ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC" part 2

Lawro predicting them not to lose again. Seeing as he hasn't predicted them to lose v City, Chelsea or spurs with two being away, theyre nailed on for a fifth unbeaten season in six

Guardiola's team talk is easy: "They already think they're champions, and the media have crowned them as such. Now go and rip them a new arse".

I fear for City in this one mate. There is very much a template of what you need to do to beat Liverpool. If you follow that, they look very ordinary (see last 3 games). That Chelsea side is not World Class and the Napoli lost their manager and star players in the summer. However there was a pragmatism to the play.

The issue I have is I just can't see Guardiola ever doing it. He plays a game that plays right into Liverpool's hands.

I saw Spurs the other week, and time and time again they kept making mistakes losing the ball in their own half and allowing Liverpool chances from it. They had 15 minutes of hitting corners and forcing Liverpool back and looked dangerous. Essentially having the ball kicked over the head of 4-5 pressing players and thus taking them out of the game. Yet they had a bit of a foothold and then went back to the ponderous playing dangerously out from the back and losing it (particularly Dier).

Unfortunately I think Guardiola will be too arrogant to change.

Unfortunately for Liverpool beyond the City game you can see problems mounting. I fancy Emery's Arsenal to cause them problems. It's also clear you are starting to see the patterns that I predicted emerging again. Massively quick out of the blocks, but then a dip emerging through late autumn to winter, with injuries kicking in.

It's clear Keita is already struggling with the pace required to play in the PL, particularly under a Klopp team.

To me the question was never about if they would have a dip, but about how soon the dip would start and how severe it will be. We will find that out.

As for most of the other sides in the league, it sounds odd but if you take the Sam Allardyce approach it's questionable as to how far Klopp's can cope with this. For me this will only go on more as the season wears on. The front 3 are already showing signs of fatigue. Salah looks to have reverted to type and will not dig them out of as many games, and frankly Mane is due another injury.

The weekend really is a must win game for them, otherwise things will really start to become quite on top for them.

If Salah keeps this form up they're knackered - and will be so pretty early in this season. I think that Liverpool will break down the bulk of the 'sit-back' teams, but will find it less easy to do so as the CL really starts taxing them.

City: they never do it against Liverpool. But I think the fact that Liverpool aren't starting out from their usual and preferred second favourite position against them will hurt them a bit. They dont hande expectation well at all. I can see them looking to bounce back from the last three games without a win to make a big statement. That'll stretch this game and make it a shoot out. That suits City more.

Even last season when they beat City it wasn’t as though City were awful, in both games they could have scored plenty of time’s but their finishing was off and their defending calamitous. Oxlade Chambwrlain will be a big miss. If City can stay within a goal up to half time they’ll win it. In the past though they’ve had a mad few minutes and conceded 3. If they avoid that they’ll have a great chance of putting Liverpool way to really burst the myth around this team.

I'm a big believer in horses for courses with football match ups, and that's why I wouldn't confidently predict a City win against any sort of Liverpool team - regardless of how good their own players are. However, I think Liverpool are the ones with the spotlight and expectation on them. I reckon the general mood around the game will suit City.

For me, if Liverpool are prevented from taking all three points - with a draw even - then they are in serious self reflection-mode with no wins in four games. They're bound to be thinking after that about all the other false dawns they've had in the last 29 years. I can see confidence and self-belief ebbing away fast.

Of course, Salah is bound now to get his season off belatedly with a hat-trick or whatever.

They'll need something special on the day though.

Imagine having to re-route your team's coach though just to avoid a horde of kopite yobs attacking it on its way to the ground. Apparently City have fitted their coach with several outside cameras to capture any aggressive behaviour on video.

Guardiola: "The best way to protect the bus is for Liverpool fans to go into the stadium." lol
That will make them feel all "ultra" and "more than a club".

They shouldn't even be in existence for the crimes they've committed. Their story should have the epitaph:

"Liverpool FC - 1892-1985. Died of Utter 'Kin Shame"
