ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC" part 2

If Salah keeps this form up they're knackered - and will be so pretty early in this season. I think that Liverpool will break down the bulk of the 'sit-back' teams, but will find it less easy to do so as the CL really starts taxing them.

City: they never do it against Liverpool. But I think the fact that Liverpool aren't starting out from their usual and preferred second favourite position against them will hurt them a bit. They dont hande expectation well at all. I can see them looking to bounce back from the last three games without a win to make a big statement. That'll stretch this game and make it a shoot out. That suits City more.

Pacy counterattacking clubs just murder City. I won't be shocked to see Liverpool take 6 off them but even then I don't think they'll win the prem.

Salah has been playing non-stop in a new more physically taxing league (and playing in a run and run some more system) since August last year. He's probably tired. Also he had one of those seasons where every single thing he touched worked out for him. IMO he's an excellent player but he did play 2nd fiddle to Dzeko at Roma so he's probably a better more experienced version of that guy instead of the player than scored goals at Messi's rate.

City is going to win this thanks to depth. If Hazard has a slight dip/injury Chelsea are going drop pts. If Mane, Salah, CB get injured/slump they are sunk. City can absorb injuries anywhere.

I dont believe in City at Anfield. However, I do think the circumstances are in their favour this time around. I wouldn't be surprised if they got a draw or win. Either will derail that lot. Let's face it, City have the players to put Liverpool away.

Anything but a win for Liverpool today and they’re right back into a top 4 mix. Despite the hype around them, the rest of the top 6 (United aside) haven’t really flinched. There could be a handful of points between City Chelsea Spurs Arsenal and Liverpool by the end of today. Demoralising for the best team in the world after their best ever start.

Limbering up outside The Arkles.

Great point in light of that Arsenal demolition of Fulham. As you say: the "procession" they and their fawning hand rags in the media were trying to impose on us a fortnight ago will suddenly look like folly.

We just need City to turn up for once at Anfield and acquit themselves reasonably well to see the cracks appearing in Liverpool. If they dont win today - Liverpool - the phone ins will be very interesting. I suspect the fissure that's always been there between a lot of their fans and Klopp will be on display.
