Seems fair , English football’s great new rivalry when on the pitch one team has won 7 trophies in 7 years including 3 titles and one has won a solitary league cup in 12 years and last won the title 27 years ago and spends all their time screaming “we’re relevant “.

Off the field I’ll accept smashing up an opponents coach as they arrive is certainly a way to generate a rivalry although I’m surprised to see the telegraph running with that narrative .

I see sky have called the RS v city game 'challengers v Champions' those same league challengers that finished 4th last year (nearly 5th if Chelsea hadn't of downed tools again at the end) and 25 points behind city, RS seem to have this idea that they've just been pipped to the title every year and the media feed the delusion, won't be long until their saying city is their real derby just like they did for years while Man utd where running away with it ever year

I particularly enjoyed the Man City photos on that Telegraph magazine, to balance out the RS ones...

Oh wait, no...

why's "city humiliate liverpool in 5-0 drubbing despite mane's thuggery" not included to provide balance in this 2 year long rivalry.

I was just thinking about this , you’ve nailed it there mate. You would absolutely think that they’d lost on goal difference or something until you look at the table , their delusion is something special .

Exactly as you say we were told the rivalry was united as Ferguson romped to trophy after trophy , then Chelsea and there complete hatred of telly clappers and the nouveau Riche Chelsea rent boys , I remember them trying to drag blues into it saying “remember them when they were nothing not a proper club” . So now They hate city , always sending media links to the stadium being half empty or the tickets being on general sale .

It’s all part of being relevant, shoe horning themselves into a rivalry that doesn’t really have a lot to do with . I remember united being a decent cup side but also rans when it came to the title well the RS are like that , well without actually winning the cups .

They’re a half decent side and sooner or later they spawn their way to a penalty shoot out against brentford or Sunderland and they’ll be even more unbearable but god save us from this rivalry crap.

Saw that. It only builds them up more to think they really are getting closer. When they fail their pain will be greater.
City will humiliate them tomorrow, I can see them scoring 4 or 5.

don't think it'll be as comfortable as that for city, but this is the first time i actually think they will win at anfield. Usually i don't believe they will, i think the fact they've lost so many in a row makes me feel they're due a win. 0-2 city.
