Very frustrating. Teams are giving them too much respect, to only concede 7 goals isn't just down to a more defensive style, i think its down to them being on a decent run so teams think ohhhh no its Liverpool they're too good so don't get right at them as much

Do what we did yesterday and play offensive and get tanked 6-2?

Maybe. Let's see. I say Liverpool wont escape City by that much. Then we see if they handle the nerves.
I've also noticed that our loveable roguish neighbours fan base are getting a bit fidgety now that they are consolidated top spot. They're kegging themselves with the knowledge that apparently they are the only club who being in top spot at xmas who haven't gone on to win the title in the last ten years.
It could be that once their fans start transmitting their fears onto the team itself, then that will start the rot.

It's Liverpool with a few points lead on City. What could go wrong?

Redknapp comparing VVD to Vidic, Ferdinand and Terry saying he’s all of them rolled in one. VVD is a player of immense quality and among the best in the world but saying he’s bette than Vidic really?! The best centre half the league has ever seen.

Also helps when teams miss open goals from a few yards against them.

I know they work with the BBC so that may be an issue, but Leon Osman and Kevin Kilbane instantly spring to mind as recent ex-players who are in punditry.

I'm sure there's many more as well who may wish to do is such as Kevin Campbell (he's been used by BT Sport), Peter Reid or even Trevor Steven from RTE.

The issue is however that they (the mainstream media) like to appease certain clubs rather than others; I imagine Spurs fans (challengers) feel more aggrieved.

Just imagine if that shower were on the TV and not one of their lot were represented through the punditry or commentators - there'd be outrage from their quarter!
Spurs have lineker, hoddle, jenas and Redknapp regularly on tv off the top of my head . And lineker is far more in favour of spurs than he is Everton . I think that Whopper sherwood too is often a pundit .

Like it or not he's better than Vidic. The Serb was aggressive and pretty formidable in an already dominant team alongside one of the other best CB's the league has seen in Ferdinand who was also a superior footballer.

The Dutchman is most certainly quicker, as strong as Vidic, just as good in the air but better on the ball and has a greater passing range.
However, what sets him apart is the effect he has had on that defence and their team as a whole. To go from being a side considered to have a dodgy defence to letting in 7(?) goals half way through the season is impressive to say the least.

Was head and shoulders above everyone else at Celtic so I surprised more teams weren't in for him when Southampton snapped him up.

Looked top drawer in an otherwise mediocre Saints side so there's a reason City were in for him too. If they'd have succeeded I think the title race would likely have been a one horse race for several years.

From what I've read he's clear favourite for POTY at present....

He’s an incredibly good player, but he’s not on the same level as Vidic or even Terry, they were formidable where as VVD isn’t

Yes they were formidable together whilst Van Dijk has to play next to Lovren lol
I'd rate Ferdinand above Terry personally but VvD is definitely in the same league as them despite those two playing in a couple of the best PL winning teams.

Will be interesting to see how Koulibaly gets on in the PL when he surely signs for City, Chelsea or Utd.
Another player picked up for a modest fee (10m) - hopefully one of those gems will rock up at Goodison in January...
