ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC" part 3

I'm not even sure there is a proper rivalry between the two clubs anymore. They just represent everything that is wrong with the modern games, and their fans put actual cultists to shame.

It's actually scary to see what they are capable of. Trying to set fire to the city's most famous landmark because a few blue lights were turned on? It's a new low point really, a seminal moment for a club and a fan base that despite trying so hard to white wash their image in the press just keep on outdoing themselves.

Sadly our fans & club have played the nice guys for too long and have let them get away with everything which gives them the impression they can do what they want in the City.

Liverpool statement

Throughout the last week, Liverpool Football Club, Merseyside Police, Liverpool City Council and Spirit of Shankly have worked together to consistently remind people that the region is still disproportionately affected by the COVID-19 pandemic and ask people to celebrate LFC’s Premier League title win safely.

Several thousand people turned up at the Pier Head on Friday June 26 and some chose to ignore the social distancing guidance and risk public safety.
Our city is still in a public health crisis and this behaviour is wholly unacceptable.

The potential danger of a second peak of COVID-19 still exists and we need to work together to make sure we don’t undo everything that has been achieved as a region during lockdown.

When it is safe to do so, we will all work together to arrange a victory parade when everyone can come together to celebrate. Until that time, the safety of our city and our people continues to be our number one priority.

The police welcome it. They made no effort at all to disperse the thousands the other night.
if the crowds gather again tonight they have to enforce the dispersal order they put in place yesterday. It is criminal that they are planning such a mass gathering in a few weeks time, if that is the case and is safe, why aren't sports being opened up to crowds again

Its become a farce and sadly we'll be back in lockdown soon thanks to the council pandering to that lot.

if somebody like SOS had organised a cleanup for the following day, at least you give them a small but if credit.

but they didn’t, they’ll instead be on social media playing the victim and condoning every reporter that tries to paint them in a bad light
Stand by for a handful of RS FKW on parade at the Liver Buildings armed with bin bags posing for the cameras as they pick up a tiny bit of debris.
