ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC" part 3

Not surprised there's a virtual media blackout on Liverpool's hacking shenanigans. Ziegler at The Times has called it "The biggest scandal in the history of the Premier League" but it's being ignored by the mainstream media. The BBC haven't even bothered reporting it at all. Compare this with the huge fuss over the Leeds manager "spying" on rivals at their training grounds. That made all the papers, was on a 24 hour loop on sky news and Leeds were fined £200,000.
I'm hoping this one steadily builds pace and ends up with them getting properly rinsed for it.

Why what is it what they've done mate?

I hope you are right but I am fully aware that they were top at Christmas last season. The year after they lost to Madrid they went one better last year. I think the same will happen in the league. If city spent on a centre half and Laporte hadn’t of got injured. I would favour city. But they look dodgy at the back.

Liverpool and city are miles ahead of anyone else In Europe. Maybe Juve come close but I’m not so sure.
Apparently Liverpool first club to win first 6 games consecutively as well.

Seems it's far too early to judge the season

A few years ago they poached two members of our coaching staff. They were automatically shut out from our scouting database but they knew the password of one of their former colleagues and started to use all our scouting data. When we caught them they paid us £1M to keep quiet. I suspect our owners have leaked this to the media as part of our ongoing feud with them. Both of the former City employees were then promoted by Liverpool and both have fairly high positions in the Liverpool backroom staff. I think one of them is current head of recruitment.

I don't think there's much in the pot left to spend, without selling.
Ok I’ll bite. Not a lot to spend? Are you daft?

Our commercial, tv and match day revenue combined will likely eclipse the 500 mil mark for the second year in a row this year, while our wages(players and staff) is still well below 300 mil a year, and the only other significant operating costs we have are probably the 25 mil a year we are paying to our owners interest free for the main stand expansion. Add to this the 52 mil we made from player sales, and only spending 1.2 mil on Sepp van der Berg, it’s clear there is still a significant amount if Klopp chooses to spend it.
The good thing for you lot though is that we will likely not spend anything in January bar any injury.
Klopp doesn’t buy for the sake of it, he waits for the right player, unlike some clubs we know...

Wasn't it £1m to settle without admitting liability though? Which City agreed to?

Can't really see it going any further, if that's the case.

Just like Michael Jackson payed off all those kids but admitted nothing.

Separate cases obviously, but I don't believe Jackson did it. At a point it just becomes good business sense to say 'go away, I don't want to deal with this anymore'.

It can generate bad publicity to fight your case, even if you're innocent, because it becomes a drawn out affair with everyone speculating.

Look at OJ, he fought his case and won, but the vast majority of people still believe he did it.

It also reflects unfavourably on the plaintiff if they accept an out-of-court settlement to drop the case, as City have done and as those did in the Jackson cases.

It implies that their motivation was money all along, not seek justice via the legal system.
