ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC" part 3

Your forgetting momentum, this is a big thing.
when was the last time Liverpool lost in the league at anfield.
They walk into matches look at the team sheet and know they will win.
Fergies boys had the same aura at old trafford, they played until the final whistle hence they got so many late goals.

Anyone can get injured, even if doping did occur that doesn't prevent a leg breaking tackle.

All this talk of he played every game nonsense.
Liverpool last season had 2 mini breaks of 10 days as they went out of both cups early, also had 2 weeks off before the cl final. City rotated regularly.
Do you think the league is yours to lose this year?

Teams have had momentum before. It hasn’t allowed them to get plus 95 points (consecutively for City and probably Liverpool after this season). Yeah City have had some ACL injuries, and Liverpool had Gomez and AOC with leg breakers as you say but where’s the fatigue injuries? Where’s the hamstring pulls, the calf strains, the type that used to see some of our best players miss games, the type that United are now suffering with across their front line, that Kante has only just come back from, that Messi seems to be hobbling off with every week. You don’t see City or Liverpool picking these up barely at all (especially Liverpool who have now gone close to 2 seasons without any serious absence to any of Van Dijk Salah Mane Firmino.

These players have done back to back CL campaigns up to the final mixed in with a world cup year and an AFCON. Spurs took about a quarter of last season to get over the World Cup and were resting some players from the start. We got hit massively at the start of 14/15 on the back of it. You hit last season playing a team that would have had minimal time off at all and flogged them every single game up until the CL final again and there wasn’t even a hint of fatigue at any point. Away to Barca, away to Newcastle and then Barca at home in the space of a few days. Barca rested their whole first 11 whilst yours played at Newcastle. You then just ran over them like it was nothing, men v boys, world class players bull dozed by players who were on the back of 4 games in about ten days yet were physically on a different level. Absolutely ridiculous.

City got fined I recall for missing loads of drug tests in the 100 point season.

Guardiola works with 2 Catalan doctors who are implicated in the " Operation Puerto" case, where Spanish riders, Real and Barca , Spanish national team were implicated where evidence has been sealed by the Spanish state.

City were fined for three violations of the whereabouts rule that allows testers to randomly call players for tests on zero notice. The first was the (admittedly odd) decision to give six reserve teamers a day off which meant they weren't there when the testers came knocking. The second was Pep calling them all in the day after a game for remedial training and a reserve team player not being at home (where City told the testers he would be) as a result and the third was a first teamer being unavailable for a test because City had moved hotels. All of them are bascially admin errors in not updating the whereabouts system at short notice. Cock-up rather than conspiracy.

As to Puerto... The only athletes busted under Puerto were cyclists, however, it was widely speculated that there were footballers, track and field athletes and "A tennis player" implicated in Manuel Fuentes' records... However, it would seem odd if Barca were using a doctor in Madrid who was also providing the same services to Real, given that the reason you dope is to gain an advantage it would seem odd to seek the advantage at the same source as your major rivals especially where sensitive information about blood values would be available to him.

I have no doubt that almost every high-level sport was and is pushing the boundaries of what is legal but I would be extremely surprised if multi billion pound industries like Barca and Real were outsourcing doping on a team-wide scale to a moonlighting Gaenacologist like Fuentes who, by all accounts, was a total loose cannon. The cyclists implicated were paying him out of their own pockets in the order of €2,000 a month plus bonuses. I imagine that those clubs could hire a leading haemotologist to lead their programme... In my view, if their players were clients of Fuentes, they were doing it off their own back.

I think you have a point. Not necessarily as a conspiracy to let them win but certainly match fixing. Most other sports have had match fixing issues - snooker cricket baseball to name a few and yet the biggest game on the planet appears to be squeaky clean.

Their "luck" is due to a pact they made with the devil some years ago.
31st Oct. 1969. First payback was the Sandy Brown Derby 5 weeks later.

I'm just not having all this conspiracy theory stuff. If the Sheff Utd keeper purposely makes that mistake to hand the RS the win, then what happens if they are relegated at the end of the season by 1 point, surely the dream of every player is to play and stay in the prem.

At the end of the day keepers make mistakes, always have, always will. How many mistakes has Pickford made that would have you rubbing your chin if you thought conspiracy.

It would of come out by now if it was.
If Russia's Putin can't bypass it I can't see how footballers can.

We are in a day and age where literally anything can be hacked from phones to presidential campaigns to man city's personal accounts, yet you think footballers can keep a lid on it.

No chance.

People forget we had the hardest working team in the league under Moyes, we lacked quality but in terms of workrate were blowing teams off the park
Genuine question for the mods on here, why are you letting him post?

He never played the same 16 players twice a week for 3 years, Moyes teams notoriously had a large injury lists, it can't be sustained unless you are lance Armstrong.

Stop it with this absolute sense and logic.

It's clearly doping.

We hate praising Liverpool but they have the greatest PR machine in any industry. Why do I say this? Well they have been by and large an utter irrelevance for 30 years in the league and yet still seen as one of the biggest clubs in the world. They have garned favourable media throughout this period by all the ex RS pros who work in it. They piggy backed on United's success to stay relevant and along with Sky, created the biggest match outside of Barcelona/Madrid in the world when they play United. This has led to some of their fans worldwide going on about a history that was created some 20 years before they were even born. Istanbul and the manner in which they won gave them a much needed shot in the arm. This decade alone Chelsea's success has dwarfed theirs and they're still not half as big as Liverpool.

European football to me is in a downswing of quality, Liverpool with excellent signings and a fantastic manager are on an upswing. I think what happens is players/managers try to take on Liverpool the club rather than the team in front of them. They buy into the Anfield myth despite the fact it's like a morgue after they have sang their funeral song. They listen to sky and their pundits when they say they are City's equals. The champions vs challengers nonsense last year when Spurs where second is just creating this whole circus when Liverpool come calling. There is a pressure now when you play them in this country and I think that more than any conspiracy about players being paid off is leading to mistakes.

To back up my point more look at their away record in Europe where teams wont hear or read half the tripe said about Liverpool. They seem them as beatable. Anfield rolls round and teams crumble, again going back to the myth around the place.

Like it or not they're a very good side, who with a very good manager and their brand behind them are going to create pressure and get results. It's all psychological rather than sinister. I actually think once they lose once in the league, they'll lose a few.

Desperate post.

Doesn’t matter how much they dope, a long term injury to VVD and they are again mediocre.

I never thought he was that good but he carries them defensively
