ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC" part 3

Watch the second replay, the one from pitch level. Watch when the contact gets made, watch the delay and watch the angle at which he throws himself. The outside of his left ankle is touched which means that in order to fall, all of his weight must fall to the right. However, his movement comes completely through the left side of his body. It is also noted that he goes down holding the wrong ankle and completes a roll on the floor:

He is a cheat.

A partnership of Laurence Olivier and Tom Daley couldn't rival that.

Apparently it was a good decision according to some of the fans of Liverpool's arch rivals. :coffee:

WOW! Did VAR call that as a pen, or the ref?

It's sanctioned for them to break their 30 years in the desert.

They cant do it under normal circumstances, not head to head with City. They need the boost of faceless bureaucrats to hand it to them on a plate.

It;s that simple. And there will be countless other times that hapens this season...and probably a fe more in the future.

VAR is a weaponised system.

It's different though. United weren't getting a huge hand up from unseen decision makers.

This is a stitch up.

Actually they did. Mysterious extra time added from nowhere (Fergie time).
Against Sheffield Wednesday they simply carried on playing until Steve Bruce scored
When they won the Premiership for the first time.
However, this season for Liverpool is off the scale. It’s just so blatant it’s embarrassing
Last season was bad but this one is already ridiculous.

Anyone with half a brain can clearly see it. VAR is not the saviour everyone thought it would be. Give Liverpool a marginal decision, send it 200 miles away to people who don't face any criticism and inevitably uphold the decision, the ref is exonerated and the desirable outcome is achieved. The same is true the other way - don't award City a stonewall penalty and the ultimate decision-maker is an unknown quantity sat in a bunker at the other end of the country.

Davek said VAR is being weaponised and I truly believe he is right. The manipulation of games from afar should be a concern to everyone.

The debate around VAR will only change when the RS are stung by it. The establishment in this country are inherently fearful of the cultists. The Express sacked a journalist last year for daring to criticise them. As with any religious cult, they do not respond well to criticism and resort to anything in retaliation. I don't think that there is a single set of fans in the land like them. They have a manager whose style and demeanour feeds their cultist tendencies. They become more obnoxious the better they get. Someone like Roy Hodgson was never likely to succeed with them because his style and demeanour is to sober for them.
