ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC" part 3

Agree to an extent mate but when you have a national paper claiming it was as bad as a near career ender challenge that the perpetrator (Keane) admitted on record was pre meditated then the insinuation is there for me that Pickford set out to try seriously injure another person.
You're missing the point. They don't actually believe what they're writing. They know the rs have wanked themselves into a frenzy over this and are just baiting them for revenue. Same with BBC and sky articles. Nobody really cares.

But if Pickford had a mental breakdown or worse over the constant abuse would they not be held liable? Look at the Caroline Flack situation recently.

The media are a disgrace and its about time they were reigned in. They stopped picking on Sterling and Pickford is now the main target and the club should start defending the lad.

So I'm looking at that, both players have gone for the ball and missed, both stretching for it and their legs tangle. Its not like Pickford plants his boot into VD's knee or anything, VVD's leg is quite visibly between Pickford's. Its a tangle and quite rightly not a red card. Unfortunately for one of them, there's too much strain on one ligament and poof, he's injured. It happens.

Great still this one. Players love to stick a leg out to win a penalty, game is riddled with it currently. The position van dirge finds himself in there, it doesn't appear he is even going for the ball, just making sure there is contact. Need to see it back in real time to be sure, but that picture does confirm what I was thinking at the time. Neither player touches the ball from memory, Pickfords foot doesn't actually touch him, its simply a collision and one I suspect was manufactured by the bloke who came off worst. The offside killed the penalty shout.

Its a bit like the Son/Gomes incident, 99% of the time its a harmless incident, but there is that 1% where the consequences are huge.

Im with you 100% on this one, the media using a false narrative to push an agenda cause damage to individuals on a personal level they should be held partly responsible

Well I would say that shows how rattled they are!

yep and not excusing (or trying to in anyway) the idiocy of the petition or march brigades, but they are shocked. It was there worst case scenario & it's happened.

Although, I will hazard a guess that it doesnt impact them as much as they expect (if they are lucky with further injury); defending will now become a collective effort rather than relying Van Dijk, which will focus the minds. Similarly, watching Man City last night, I thought they were better without KDB in Midfield, other players stepped up when they didnt have him to bail him out.

That said, it could be a horror show. I'll buy the popcorn

I'm going to keep calm and avoid too many big conclusions. City massively missed Laporte e enormously last season. I think VVD is better, and their other defenders are a bigger drop down.

Let's see how they get on. He and Alisson took them from a 4-6th place team to a top 2 side. So its obviously a huge loss, though they remain a strong team.

thankfully the picture sub appears to have more sense, given this is the picture they've used to compare the Keane - Haaland challenge with:

how hasn't Pickford's ankle gone there by the way?

Such is his velocity in the horizontal direction that no actual weight is being put on it.
