AFAIK the entry was by scanning a barcode. The tickets would not have been kept by the stewards at the turnstiles

There'll be thousands of them, taken from pickpockets, from regular arrests, brushed up in the concourses inside the stadia. Kopites are thick but not so much as to keep evidence on themselves of their crime. Through the gate and dumped.

I don't think they had loads of fake tickets, most had no ticket at all and were just hoping the find a way to bunk in, thats what caused the problem, the French did nothing wrong

Tbf the law enforcement officers have been criticised here in France for their over exuberance.
But for the gendarmerie that's route 1 direct method for clearing dangerous crowds.

Interior minister provided loads of updates yesterday confirming the scale of fake tickets, loads more people around the ground than the capacity and how many legitimate ticket holders didn't get in.

None of this seems to have been reported on over here.

The incident has served its purpose for the RS. Distracted from their damp squib ending and blame the police and Uefa for the incident caused by thousands trying to fraudulently get in. They want it to blow over now.
