In the post Messi Ronaldo era any team that wins the CL their star player will have a chance at Ballon Dor. Lewandowski would have won it if it wasn’t cancelled for
Covid. Modric rightly won it in 2018, Lewandowski would have won it, Benzema will probably win it for last season. The world cup might have some sway this season but if there’s no stand out player and Bayern win the CL with Mane as their main man he’ll be one of the favourites no question.

Had he stayed at Liverpool the clamour for Van Dijk or Salah to win it makes Mane’s contribution irrelevant.
