ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC" part 3

Thing is, they are definitely not a top 4 side this year.... City, Arsenal, Spurs, United, Newcastle, Chelsea should ALL finish above them.

It will be disastrous for them if they miss out.
The footballing authorities won’t want Newcastle anywhere near the Champions League. Not yet anyway. Fully expect them to be on the end of bizarre decisions to get them to drop points. Liverpool of course will get the opposite treatment if they are desperate for points.

If you don't want to wait till Friday here is the inevitable Champions League carve up draw

Top half of draw (first legs)

Brugge or Napoli
RBL or Spurs

Frankfurt or Benfica
Liverpool or Porto

Bottom half of draw
Inter or Chelsea
AC Milan or Man City

PSG or Bayern
Dortmund or Real Madrid

or, Liverpool to be given Porto, Benfica and Spurs for a chance to reach the final..

Think they’re just doing the Last 16 draw on its own this year. The QF and SF draws take place after that round is done.

They’re going to get Porto again aren’t they
Porto or Benfica or Bayern or Real Madrid.. 50% odds are usually more than enough to ensure they get what they want.

Spurs ensured that Frankfurt weren't on their immediate horizon but they would still have got Porto out of Porto/PSG/Bayern/Real Madrid.

No doubt thousands of flights to Portugal have already been provisionally booked.

It’s actually amazing the luck they get in this competition every season. A group winner is going to end up getting PSG (and it’s not going to be Porto or Benfica) and a good team is going to go out whilst once again Liverpool will just play a load of dross to go into the quarters.

Given that they have fluked their way to 3 finals in recent times (by that I mean, without disrespect to them as a good team, they were off the edge of the seedings out in Pot 3 and got some pretty useless teams like Sevilla, Farmers from Slovakia and a load of teams ranked 7th or 8th out of 8 in their respective pots.. twas ever thus.

Just be good for once if they played someone decent like every other team has to. Real Madrid over 2 legs with the second leg away and if they somehow get past them there’s PSG, then City, then Bayern. The same sort of runs every team has to do if they want to win it. Not the usual lucky road of nominal Portuguese knockout team, plucky Spanish or Italian underdog that somehow beat a superpower with their one good performance then gets battered, referee assisted win against an English club that uefa hate.

I agree on this, just look at us when we came 4th, or when Leicester had the audacity to actually win it, it didn't h
Go down well

There's no way that lot are good enough to reach the final this season.

Bookmark that.

Can’t rule them out of anything, why don’t some of you ever learn.

They will get the most ludicrously easy draw, and it will be benfica or porto next round without a doubt. The only way the above doesn’t happen is if uefa want them out after the Paris debacle, but uefa are whores for money, so will want the tourists to go far.

In addition to the dodgy draw, Shippmann will have the kloppozade flowing after the AC and I reckon they will also spend some more of the Coutino money and get some midfielders in, whilst managing to stay top of the netspend table…..

Think they're only halfway through the Torres money tbh
