where's coutinho's talent?
hasn't he scored two open goal tap ins and a combined range of 11 yards and 1 assist in this whole season? if he was talented he wouldn't have been struggling to get on the bench of the 9th best team in italy. why do people rate him, he's missing always, someone on here highlighted the other day that he just tries to play the same pass over and over again. defenders watch him for 5 mins and notice that and he doesn't have an answer.
sakho showed his potential vs city when he passed the ball away 5 times in 30 seconds! not seen much of him, but i don't think he'll be as good as FM thinks.
tbh mate, i think a lot of liverpool fans will be saying totally the opposite of all these very good players in a year when suarez has gone and you realise you rely so heavily on him.
I don't expect you to agree and don't really mind it. It's a futile exercise trying to come up with a combined XI when we both know we'll be biased towards our sides. Let's not prolong the discussion further

So you based your judgement on Sakho on the 5 dodgy minutes he had against City? Fair play for that....
Coming to Coutinho he has very good technique, is a great dribbler and does create terrific through balls. He is still adapting to the physicality of the league and and his composure in front of the goal needs improvement.
It didn't work out well for him at Inter but he is certainly not the first talented youngster to not work out for a specific team and let go of a relatively low price. Again at 21 he is ever improving and you can't make a complete judgement right now.

Although, I don't think a reasonable person who's watched a good amount of both teams this year could put Gerrard in a merseyside XI. This weekend I watched Barry put in his umpteenth superb display, scoring a belter. I also watched Gerrard stink the place out for the umpteenth time in the last 2 years.
McCarthy has been similarly good. I'd choose him over Henderson, although that's a lot closer.
There's bias and then there's being a bit silly and I think the latter was the case when Mr. Morgan posted that he'd have Gerrard and Henderson over Barry and McCarthy.

Talking about Sterling, yeah he has looked good this past month, but didn't he have a period last season were he looked like he could beat anyone then fizzled out for the remainder of the season. Defences found him out and Brenda had to drop him to protect him.

Man city chairman has recently said that he is planning a massive spending spree in the summer. His vision is to complete a squad of players to compete in all competitions and basically go for the lot. Does Suarez have a release clause in his contract ? Money is clearly not a problem for the Man C's of this world...... Worry you ?
On the flip side you would at least get a substantial amount but would you trust Brendan with it ? Not spending wisely so far has he lets be honest

I think this discussion, while very interesting, and fair play to Dmorgan for being polite on here.
But what it really proves is that forming an opinion of any player based on 8 minutes of MOTD is pretty futile. I have seen that lot on a few streams, and I expect Dmorgan has seen us on MOTD/occasional stream, but nothing beats seeing a team live to assess what a player, especially midfielders, contribute to a side.
For example, I expect a Youtube combo of Peter Reid wouldnt look that great, but we all know how great he was for that team.
So if he is a match going Red, I am happy with his assessment of his own players over ours which he has probably never seen live. Or maybe only once, when we bossed them.
But what it really proves is that forming an opinion of any player based on 8 minutes of MOTD is pretty futile. I have seen that lot on a few streams, and I expect Dmorgan has seen us on MOTD/occasional stream, but nothing beats seeing a team live to assess what a player, especially midfielders, contribute to a side.

Happens with many young players when they are overplayed like Sterling...takes time for players like him to mature
He'll go if we don't get into the top 4 but not to a PL club unless it's an absolutely humongous bid. Madrid or Bayern would be his likely destination....

Exactly mate...same way I don't watch many of your matches that closely so don't understand the fuss about someone like Mccarthy, but since most people have praised him I do take their word for it. People here should do the same when forming opinions about players like Allen, Henderson and Sterling

Mignolet looks pretty good - he must be to have kept Sunderland up! Howard is decent enough but I'll concede this one on current form.
Johnson is just gash, even their fans now admit it, Skrtl has become a non-talking thug - I don't know what to make of Sakho - runs like a new born lamb. Who's the other centre-half? Maybe it's Toure.. so I'm putting Mignolet in goals and the rest of the back four is definitely all Blue - even the whole of the PL fans vote on 2013 players of the year agree with me so I can't be too biased. Distin's place is under threat but from who exactly?
Midfield - Barkley walks into the team, we can argue all day about the other 3 but it's close. Definitely want Barry in there and probably - on recent form - I'd have to have McCarthy and Henderson and - I suppose, to keep them happy Gerrard makes the bench.
