ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC"

It's almost like a Viz Top Tip:

Convince everyone that you ooze class and dignity by telling everyone you have class and dignity ad nauseam.

And if that doesn't work, shove them against a wall, stick fingers up their noses and make a death threat.

Then you can come out with this class and dignity guff unchallenged.

'Class and dignity' are traits awarded by others, not oneself. Those who award it to themselves lack both.

José Mourinho is threatening to rest virtually his entire Chelsea team and potentially hand Liverpool the Premier League title after revealing he will seek permission from Roman Abramovich to pick a deliberately weakened side in protest at being made to play the game on Sunday. Mourinho's plan is likely to infuriate the Premier League and also has serious ramifications for Manchester City, who are relying on Chelsea to beat Liverpool and throw the title race back open.

Jose's Most Ultimate Mind Game Yet!

Well said. Gets my goat how so many casuals fall for it. I mean, that's how Hitler got elected ffs.

City with Aguero can beat anyone.

Liverpool have looked very, very nervy and have to stop being gifted goals like they were against Fulham, Spurs, City, United, Norwich etc.

Chelsea beat them and then they have to go to a resurgent Palace, if it's all square there after an hour then they will buckle.

The only issue is Chelsea will be playing a weak team with his eye on the CL Final now, the rs are amazing at home. Palace are now safe and will be on their holidays. Liverpool will all their remaining games.

The fact that Mourinho has said he may play a weakened team means the exact opposite.

He cant now do anything other than put his best team out. If he'd said nothing concerning those intentions, he and Chelsea would have gotten away with it - if that's what they'd actually wanted to do. It's a point made for next season to the PL bosses.

Just mind games by Mourinho. Not that it'll make much difference. I expect a draw.

This is part of Mourinho's anti LFC agenda. He set his stall out when they played at Stamford Bridge and highlighted that the media is dominated by the LFC. The LFC media proceeded to 'ridicule' his claim. On Saturday Mourinho questioned the ability of Dean to referee a game and then claimed the Riley had an 'objective'. The sacking of Moyes has buried these claims. There were a few sly digs at Mourinho in the commentary last night, but no real mention of his claims.

It seems unbelievable that a manager can make such 'claims' and there is no outrage from the media and clamour for Mourinho to be charged by the FA.

Mourinho now threatening to send a reserve side to Anfield. Lovely. It's rotten to the core that the sides projected to be in the mix for the title and European places should meet on weekends between European match dates. The top 8 sides from the previous season should not meet on these weekends, where possible - certainly not on the weekend in between the ties in Europe.

Gerrard will soon have his grubby mits on that trophy

Arsenal fans will be celebrating an FA Cup win and also Champs League qualifications

Way to ruin a good season for us you absolute knobs

If at least one of them fails, it would cheer me up somewhat

That would be logistically absurd. Plus, it would look like fixture rigging - giving the big teams easier games when they have Europe. It's just fate that Chelsea have this tie now, nothing "rotten" about it. The same way Arsenal had some mental fixtures in March. If you're in the CL you build a squad for the strain. If you're still in with a shot at a couple of trophies come April then you should be happy. Chelsea should be set up for this given the money at that club. If Chelsea fall short it will be due to having had too many managers in recent years leading to a lack of strategic thinking in squad building, hence no strikers. It won't be because they have three tough games in eight days - which is nothing unusual.

So the FA knew the dates of the 2013-2014 Champions League semi finals before they released the playing schedule for the 2013-2014 season, and they put the LFC v Chelsea game right in the middle of the semi finals. Ah but that's alright, because both LFC and Chelsea teams are in Europe, so no advantage to either team. And the English FA want to help all English teams get as far as possible in both the Champions League and Europa League and protect the Premier league as a fair competition. No rat melt there then. And definitely not part of any 'objective'.

Been saying it for months: they haven't been given a leg up to the title, they've been given a ladder leading to it.

This is what happens when the league's top club is in a state of flux. Chaos ensues and the games's authorities can become king maker.

They'll be the worst champions of England in the PL period.

No reigning champions to contend with because of Ferguson's departure
Officials falling over themselves to help them with pens / punish their nearest opponents
Played 25% less games than Chelsea and City
Football overly-reliant on punts to two goal machines
