ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC"

Not withstanding some great performances - individually and as a team - however that has happened: whether by good tactics, indifferent performances by key opponents in several matches, particularly against Liverpool but you have to say they have used up 10 years worth of good fortune to get this one on the board.

To wit: City losing the plot on a simple through ball (leaving the entire goal wide open), losing Toure early, Kompany, carrying an injury presents the title on a plate to Coutinho with a dreadful clearance - this after Silva misses a near open goal. Not to mention dropping 2 points at home to Sunderland.

Chelsea - chuck away any advantage by losing at Villa, Palace and home to Sunderland - now turning up with a reserve side to rubber stamp the title.

Arsenal - suffering dreadful injuries, completely blow their title chances, turn up and lie down in a moribund 5-1 defeat (although to be fair Arsenal did this at Chelsea, Everton, City and even at Man U)

United - utter gash in both games. Barely threatened to even score.

Everton turning up with a barely fit back 4 to pretty much give up the 3 points.

And, when all that wasn't happening the lesser lights were pretty much rolling over and handing the points on a plate: Stoke (2 points at Anfield, last minute penalty miss - kick starting their season), Stoke (away) - with the help of the referee a dreadful penalty, Villa (home) gift of a penalty (thanks in part to a dubious refereeing call). Fulham away - dreadful gift of a penalty and another two points handed to them.

Spurs - well, where do we start - granted Liverpool played well but, hang on - 0-5 at home and utter gash and 93 seconds before they practically pass the ball into their own net to gift another 3 points in a pathetic effort.

It's fine to credit them with some excellent performances, yes they've played well and deserve a huge amount of credit, but their opponents have, time after time, shown no stomach for the fight - laid down inside 10 minutes and barely looked like being arsed to fight back.

I dont see how it's clutching at straws.

Question: in your opinion if Liverpool had had to play tue-sat/wed-sun what would you expect the league table to look like right now?

Explain this graph then?

If finishing outside Europe is such a big advantage then why in PL history has a club finishing outside of European places the previous season never won the title?

The fact is that clubs in the CL get a lot more money to spend and can attract better players to improve their squad depth. That's why clubs want to be in the CL in the first place and that's why clubs in the CL actually have a better chance of winning trophies.

Make a nice banner that lad

City and Chelsea should be [Poor language removed] ashamed if Liverpool win the title this year. The money they have spent in the last 4 or so years, the squads they have...shocking failure from both.
