ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC"

Liverpool are the 3rd biggest net spenders in the past decade? 4th biggest in the last couple of seasons? Rodgers has done well to finish 2 places higher than they should do, but its hardly ground breaking stuff. Palace have finished 9 places higher? and that's with them being bottom a 1/4 season through. Pulis has achieved more this season.

There's still a possibility of them finishing 3rd, and if Arsenal had a bit more luck with injuries they'd probably have finished ahead of Liverpool as well.

Brent's achievements have been wildly overstated, especially when we factor in the lack of European football. And the early exits in both domestic Cups.

Back to 5th/6th/7th next season even if they keep Suarez, if he goes then, with the wind in the right direction, I honestly, no wind up intended, believe they could be in a relegation battle.

49 goals conceded which is only two fewer than Hull, take Suarez's goals and assists away and they'd have 55 goals (i know why that's a daft thing to say but there's no other player who has contrbuted such a disproportionate amount to his team).

Gerrard a year older, Sturridge's purple patch looks to be over, Agger potentially on his way, Skrtl, Toure, Sahko, Flanagan are all bobbins. Horribly mediocre midfield. Over £100m in debt. They could be in serious trouble very, very soon.

What a capitulation.

Never seen anything like it.

It's also their fault in every single imaginable way. From Gerrard's slip, to their naive tactics. Their fans celebrating like it was over after City probably didn't help either.

All their own doing.

Oh come on, Newcastle in 96 was worse by far

Liverpool lost to Chelsea and then drew away with a team who beat us at home

Newcastle were miles clear with the best side in the league and ended up chucking it away to Fergie's kids

nice analysis SteveO. I hope you are right. I would like to see RS in the championship (and tbf, they would be pretty competitive down there)

Not got the clearest memories of that seeing as I was three like.

Arsed either way, I'm just made up they've cocked everything up.

They've also got more than a few young players playing and an inexperienced manager, who's inexperience cost them, in there.
Correct....but it's sweet as a nut right now and we should glory in their misery.

They might still nick it, but I'd have torn your arm off two weeks ago if you'd offered me this scenario.

I honestly couldn't see how they wouldn't win it. Throw in being the luckiest gang of snides that ever laced boots and I'm over the moon here

The lead was slightly misleading as Newcastle had had a far easier first half of the season, and they absolutely battered United at ST James' before going losing to Cantona's goal.

Speaking of Cantona, it was down to him and the experienced defence that they won the league that year, the kids actually had very little to do with it. United lost to Southampton and then struggled big time against a 10 man Leeds team with Radebe in net!

Liverpool 25/1? Worth a £25 bet?

Not because i think they should be a bigger price but £650 wouldn't be a bad consolation should the unthinkable happen.
