Liverpool could now wait years for title – Ronnie Whelan

"It was an anti-climax and I was never so down as a Liverpool supporter as after the Chelsea game. That result (2-0) basically killed it off for me, but I don't think it's failure. That's very harsh. Liverpool have had a great season.
The problem is that it's going to take years to get the players in and build the team, because we have fallen behind over the last 10 years.
Money issues aside, there are no guarantees that the best parts of Liverpool's 2013-14 form will be replicated next season and Whelan reckons that Rodgers faces major challenges.

I would bet that Daniel Sturridge will never score 21 league goals again and (Luis) Suarez is not going to score that many goals (31 in the league, plus nine in other competitions) in every season.
Brendan Rodgers said they need six players to go into the team. If he gets six good players going into that team and six coming out of it who are on your bench, then you have a half-decent chance with that sort of squad.
But they have to find those very, very good six players.
Rodgers also has to find a way to deal with packed defences and the fact that Liverpool won't be a surprise package in 2014-15."

Apologies if this has been posted already, but I've only just seen it.

Bullets will no doubt be popped into envelopes very soon.....

It's spot on that. Gerrard offered zero leadership when it mattered.

I think his fall from grace was underlined in that respect when he tried with three pathetic long range efforts to wipe out his slip in the Chelsea game in the second half of it. They were hopeless efforts and he should have been trying to probe the defence for teammates from promising positions. A leader would have done that, not gone for the Hollywood shots.

I'm sure it's been said, but it's not just the loons on RAWK who post complete and utter turd and at times frankly disturbing things, it's then everyone else praising it like it's fantastic, that weird poem/song/limmerick thing about 'we go again' is just a prime example. I worry about humanity in general at times!! :-l

I've been reflecting on how we would have reacted had we been in the same position with 4 games to go.

I honestly think the comments from the Everton fans would have ranged from 'Let's take one game at a time' being the most positive outlook to 'We're gonna bottle it', being the norm.

They set themselves up for this. Total arrogance and a complete lack of graciousness from their players, their fans and their manager.

It is so funny!!!!!!

Has anyone else noticed how Facebook is akin to a ghost town as far as posts by Sh1te-supporting people on your Friends list goes?

I'm not exaggerating g here, but since Sunday I can genuinely count the number of total posts between the lot of them on one hand. With a couple of fingers to spare (ideal for throwing up my bird's bum).

It was already noticeable that their inane drivel was less frequent ever since the Chelsea game and then again after the Crystambul delight. But they've seriously gone into hiding now.

Which makes it even sweeter!!!

Whilst I agree with you about the emboldened bit, the issue with Stevie G is that is what his career has been built on, those screamers that give the RS a win which their performance might not have been deserved. He was never going to not try and do that, especially as if one of them had gone in we would be drowned in Captain Fantastic style musings from the media and they would have won the league. In some ways he reminds me of Hannibal, in that he is great in his day but once someone works him out he ends up throwing pots of snakes at boats.
