If Madrid want him, they'll get him. There's nothing a club like Liverpool can do about it, despite all their nonsense about being a global/massive institution. They are something Madrid walked in.

I read something on Twitter, basically saying they are doing what Spurs did last season, spending the money from a sale before the actual sale.

Doesn't surprise me. They do have a bit of money to spend but Brendan will be dying to waste as much as he can as soon as he can.

Its brill.

meh, they always spend bucketloads. they do it every summer, probably just some RS fans pretending they are actually poor and have to sell to buy.

On Diego Costa: " Just another washed up striker to sign for Chelsea, adding the growing list of washed up strikers they have "

This was on the day they signed Rickie Lambert, a 32 year old lump, who has spent 80% of his career in the lower leagues with the likes of Rochdale, Stockport and Bristol Rovers.

Nothing quite like the response to Chelsea on them grabbing Diego Costa, your title rivals heading into the new season, than signing a league one lump. That sends a message of intent.

It amuses me somewhat to think that naff players like Antonio Valencia have won the league title three times whilst Steven Gerrard is still waiting for one.

He'll never win it. He's 34 and they're not going to be even in the shake up again around Easter for at least the next 3/4 years.

Maybe they'll appoint him honourary life captain and let him hold it if they win it in the next 25 years.

That 'League One lump' has a better scoring ratio in the Premier League than the vast majority of our strikers have had in the last ten years.

Funny how you use the Moyes years as your example to this scoring ratio. Where the vast majority of our strikers didn't actually play as a striker.
