ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC"

Can see FSG digging there heals in again

They seem very stubborn

Don't believe all that crap that Henry spouted after last summers debacle.

They only got away with that as they'd been slippery with the wording of his original contract and what Suarez people believed was a buyout clause wasn't water tight.

They won't have made that mistake twice and you can guarantee his new contract has very plain buyout clauses in it.

Yeah but also a 2nd place league finish, Champions League Qualification, Player of the Year Award and an FA Cup Final, as well as some famous large margin victories over rival clubs.

It's not been a rip roaring success but he's done very well there

I wouldn't call qualifying once for CL football a success for a club that has the third highest spend in the PL.

He's a disgusting toe rag, but his football talents deserve a bigger canvas to work with than that hopeless Liverpool squad...who are an empty shell without him. 27 years of age...he needs to shift this summer. I think he will too.

I think he'll be the Maradonna of this World Cup and will move on for a massive transfer figure to be honest

It all depends if he can make it through the tournament without getting skelped by someone

I think he will have a poor game today, on Thursday obviously he scored a couple of good goals but in general he wasn't his normal self. Given that he likely got through on mostly adrenaline I can't see how he's recovered enough to play a game only 5 days later. Also the Italians are just as good as he is in the dark arts of the game, a couple of them will try and test his knee early on something no one in the England team tried.

As soon as Uruguay go out the real speculation will begin when he's back home having his holidays and leaking stuff to the press, they'll be burning shirts by the end of next week.

He's clearly telling fibs so he doesn't look so bad when he skips town

On the one hand, it will be nice not having to combat him on Derby Days

On the other hands, Liverpool will get a fair bit of moolah for selling him and I can only assume that with so much to spend Brenda would at least get ONE player in who was somewhat handy

Give enough monkeys enough typewriters...

They will get get a fair bit of cash, but i believe the Yanks will trouser a fair chunk against previous transfer blunders
Been thinking about that myself, I'd imagine Liverpool's finances are opaque, even for a football club and haven't got time to look into it at the moment, but I'd be interested to know what people on hear think, would FSG take a load of cash from a major sale? Would an outgoing transfer fee be used against FFP, how does that work?
I just think it would be hilarious if LFC get less than the figures being touted due to the release clause, and then find out only a proportion of that is actually available for transfers.

The way FSG is set up with loads of people investing money in it and they will all be looking for a return on their investment. That is why they dug their heels in last season, they needed CL qualification to rake in the money to pay a 'dividend' to investors. They knew that with Suarez they were more likely to get into CL than without him. Suarez made an absolute mug out of Rodgers, 'calling him a liar' and then refusing to apologise. Henry will have told Rodgers to shut up and get Suarez back into the team.

This season TV revenue increased and the profit on Suarez sale will do them very nicely, they can pay the promised 'dividend' to the investors. What they give Rodgers to spend will not be the full amount they get for Suarez.

But who will Rodgers buy? No one that will score 30 goals and so many assists. Without Suarez and the World Cup effects on Gerrard, Henderson, Sterling Sturridge and Johnson. They will be lucky to get out of the CL group stage and finish in the top 4.

Last season was their best chance in donkey's years to win the prem and they blew it. This season could well be a very pivotal season for the RS on and off the pitch.

Here's hoping Italy end his involvement in the World Cup this afternoon.

Actually, I hope Uruguay goes deep into the tournament. More of a chance for the bucktoothed barsteward to do his knee again, this time proper like, and make him unsellable and out of action for months.

the one question that no Liverpool fan will answer honestly is what would they think of brendan if they dropped out the top 6 next season?

They came close to winning the league and he is being touted as a top manager. Fair enough, unbias here, we would say the same about any other manager taking a midtable club so close so no different to them lot. Now my point is, if they don't perform as well as last year, potentially Arsenal / United / City / Chelsea will knock them out of the champions league places and therefore knock them out of the main competition. That does not even include us making a another strong claim to it or tottenham's squad under the new man clicking and doing really well.

So if liverpool did drop quite a bit down the league, would he still be the answer for the managers role or would be be seen as a lucky manager who is being shown up? How much will the club entrust to him to see what the answer is the following year?

That is the question here. We dont do well then its probably down to finance and if the clubs above us spend a lot more we can say fair enough. But they have no excuse, despite what anyone says. they have money, they have a world class striker and they have shown they can almost win the title. So anything less than that will surely be a massive shock to the owners system now?

Last season they anointed him as the second coming of Shanks, so he's got some breathing space until they finally turn on him after realising that he was merely a false God.

To start with they'll blame Suarez, the meeja, new players settling in etc etc and then at some point the penny will drop.
