Yep you and @roydo are bang on, I was getting confused myself. IF by my rules, we wouldn't have the 99 trophy now. And that's how it should be, IMO. (I was just saying that we were champions of England when we lifted the European Cup that year, Pool were FIFTH in England!)
Down to two European Cups thanks to his own rule.

Jim Lahey is a f*uckin' drunk and always will be.

IF Fergie had gone to Everton instead of us and made you what Man Utd are today, you wouldn't be posting tripe like this. And I mean that in the nicest possible way.

AND I haven't ONCE complained that "Money has ruined the game." It's part and parcel OF the game now, unfortunately. That's not Man Utd's fault, it's just what it is. Blame UEFA, FIFA and the sugar daddies. Don't blame us for building something, it's not like we were nothing one minute and then super rich the next (Hello Man City/PSG).

Not saying we're without our faults mind you. But your post is way off the mark.
LOL. Come off it. You have bought your success same as the rest of them.

...first call on Five Live last night was a red demanding Rodgers out and Pulis in. I remember the deluded comments when the Euro draws were made, particularly about Everton only being in the Intertoto Cup and Thursday's on ITV4. They have found their level.
There was a caller who thought he was defending the recent signings by saying "Brendan Rodgers put out a B team against Real Madrid at the Bernabeu and they drew nil nil so hang on".........only to be reminded by the presenter they had actually lost the game.

Don't think there's any doubt that Utd have bought their success. The question is how they came into the money in the first place.

Utd were fortunate (for want of a better word) to win the inaugural Premier League. The money flowed in from that point onwards.

....thought Blackburn were first but my memory is hopeless.

Good long term planning, a youth setup that plucked some fine players and brought them through as a unit and having a ground that could take the new interest from corporate as well as be expanded to meet demand didn't hurt either. That Murdoch was in to buy them is a significant footnote in football history with just how scewed some people wanted the business to be.

They were. But the point remains, Utd have played the PL years very well, and their spending is generally funded by the business they run. Not an privately rich owner bankrolling them. Think thats the point most Utd fans make

Spot-on.

Anyway, everyone is entitled to their opinion on the matter. And this is the Liverpool thread, take your slagging off Man U to the related thread, guys!

:D

It is an irrelevant point. They have bought their success same as the rest. It doesn't matter how the money was derived.
