ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC"

Aug 2014

"I wasn't lying on a sun lounger on a beach over the summer crying and fretting over the fact that we lost the league," he told the Sunday Mirror. "There is only an excitement and a belief inside the club that we can challenge again for the title this time.

"We proved last season that we can handle the pressure of a title run-in. I know people will point to the Chelsea and Crystal Palace games, but they should look instead at our last 14 games.

"Twelve wins, one draw, one defeat. That kind of form usually wins you the title. So I know we can cope with the pressure. What we didn't get was that wee bit of luck you need along the way.

"We just didn't get the breaks when we needed them most, but I believe that we will be back up there, challenging, and Liverpool Football Club is a very exciting place to be at this current time.

"Last season was a great step forward and now we must believe that we can go one better.
"If it doesn't happen this year, then it will happen soon. I really believe that because of what we're building at the club."

He's come out and said Mario wasn't what he wanted and was forced into it and now he's lashed his number 1 under the bus in the same week

Worst man manager in the league

Odd really, that Mingolet was acclaimed at Sunderland as a very good keeper. Lovrens was lauded at Southampton and wanted by all the top clubs and Lallana at Southampton was at their creative heart and broke into the England team. Lambert was banging them in for fun and was Balotelli in Italy. But as soon as Mr Clever super coach gets them on the training ground he turns them into Sunday league players.

It really is a unique talent that Mr clever has with players.

Think he'll lose against Bournemouth and Arsenal and be out of a job next Monday personally.

Don't see how he can turn this around

I said earlier that the Bournemouth game was more of a marker, even when their in form a win at Utd is more a bonus than expected. But Wednesday they'll clearly be favourites but they'll also have all the pressure.

There'll be no hiding place for him if they get beat against a championship team and knocked out the league cup at this late stage.

He's a fraud.

My only concern is that I see a lot of parallels between what he does tactically and Martinez - our guy is the better man manager by a mile, but I hope he's also the better tactician in the long run and can adjust to adversity.

...not sure what to make of Lallana. Clearly very talented, great feet and can pick a pass but his input is fleeting. Perhaps a luxury footballer missing that ingredient to make things happen. £25m, don't think I'd swap him for a Mirallas.
They could have taken Osman for around £20 million less,as you said Eggs,Ossie too has great feet and can pick a pass, yes he's a few years older, but would have done a better job for them IMHO and no I'm not joking!!

"I would say talent can be coached out of players, absolutely," he said. "It's just fear. It is easier to get rid of the ball than to pass it, and I understand that as a coach you need to win games, so you smash the ball up the pitch so you don't lose your job. But don't then say that is the type of player we have in this country because it is not. Boys here know how to pass. We need to stop blaming the players because it is not their fault. The problem is the coaching."

“The other night I was up at 4.30am, down in my kitchen, looking and thinking of ways that I could make us better and improve,” Rodgers said. “That is something I have got – a hunger to make this group better and improve. We are looking to get balance in the team – balance is the most important thing in football – but with limited coaching time. When I came in, I was asked whether I would have someone to come in and help the strikers score. We got goals.

“I think it is just the lack of coaching time that is impacting. Listen, we can’t complain. We are in the big competitions and there is an expectancy on us, which there should be. We are Liverpool. But in terms of a defensive coach, we don’t need it. No. No. No chance. No chance. No.

Every time he opens his mouth. One word.
