ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC"

Rodgers 2013

"I would say talent can be coached out of players, absolutely," he said. "It's just fear. It is easier to get rid of the ball than to pass it, and I understand that as a coach you need to win games, so you smash the ball up the pitch so you don't lose your job. But don't then say that is the type of player we have in this country because it is not. Boys here know how to pass. We need to stop blaming the players because it is not their fault. The problem is the coaching."

Hahahahaha every single crap thing he's ever said is coming back to bite him ^^

“The other night I was up at 4.30am, down in my kitchen, looking and thinking of ways that I could make us better and improve,” Rodgers said. “That is something I have got – a hunger to make this group better and improve. We are looking to get balance in the team – balance is the most important thing in football – but with limited coaching time. When I came in, I was asked whether I would have someone to come in and help the strikers score. We got goals.

“I think it is just the lack of coaching time that is impacting. Listen, we can’t complain. We are in the big competitions and there is an expectancy on us, which there should be. We are Liverpool. But in terms of a defensive coach, we don’t need it. No. No. No chance. No chance. No.

Oh jesus.

He's a fraud.

My only concern is that I see a lot of parallels between what he does tactically and Martinez - our guy is the better man manager by a mile, but I hope he's also the better tactician in the long run and can adjust to adversity.

Tactical nous doesnt come into it; Rodgers' main issue is that he falls out with his own players and ends up running them out of "his" club. This wasnt a problem for him so much when he was getting rid of Carroll, Downing, Adam etc but this season he has driven out or fallen out with players they need. It is also a bit of a yellow streak because everyone knows he wouldnt dare to challenge players - or rather the player - whose removal would most improve the balance of the team.

One has to wonder whether Yanks II would trust him with any more of their money.

FSG must have advisors around them questioning the signings that have been made, They have always seemed ruthless to me

If he stays a while longer it will be interesting to see who breaks ranks first, I would go for Starfish.

Reckon he already has. Chris Bascombe has been all over it in the Telegraph this week. One article in particular was about the amount of rubbish they have spent on players to replace, err, Gerrard.

Translation. He is irreplaceable

If you'd of signed Lambert. Do you not think questions should of been asked then?

Eto'o was on a free.

He's proven at every level.

Gerrard Mar 2014

"He has been a revelation," said the 33-year-old. "He keeps tinkering and tweaking formations, making little changes to personnel and pulls it off.
"You go out feeling full of confidence and belief. His one-on-one management is the best I've known."

The England captain has also called on Liverpool's owners to reward Rodgers, whose contract expires at the end of next season, with a new long-term deal.

"He is a young coach who has earned the right to become Liverpool manager and from week to week he is improving," Gerrard added.
"We are absolutely delighted he is here and I just hope there is a lot of movement as we speak because they have got to get him signed up as soon as possible."

Chalk and cheese.
