ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC"

It's the same in rugby league over here, any 50/50 calls go in favour of the "bigger" team, I think a lot of it comes down to the media - the bigger club will continue to carry on if they feel they don't get the decisions keeping it in the papers for days where as the smaller clubs either just let it go or are ignored by the media because it doesn't sell as many papers.

Seriously though, how boss is it that out of all the players it was him that slipped it up and it will haunt him for the rest of his days, think thats what they call poetic justice.

Karma at its finest
Actually one of the greatest sporting moments i've ever witnessed, i was in disbelief, always liked Demba Ba, top man.

Oh and his post was a load of old paranoid nonsense. The kind of "everyone favours them and hates us" rubbish they spout over at RAWK when things aren't going their way.

I honesty thought you were better than that.

If you look at the legalistic system in society there an I inherent favouring of the wealthy and powerful, few would dispute that. I am not sure why football would be any different.

I don't think it is an "everyone hates us" thing or paranoia just an acknowledgement of how society works.

We haven't had a penalty at Anfield in 50 years. I can think of about 6 they have had in my lifetime at Goodison (and that is not as long as 50 years before you start!)

We also had a penalty and a blatant sending off for Meyler waved away too, what's your point?

I think his point is, they have gone down the pecking order slightly and don't get all the big decision's but City are getting them and that is peeing off many Manu fans, including Mr Lahey. Wait until they don't get some blatant decisions and the new 'chosen one' starts to slip them down the table and if they drop out the top 4. 'It's the refs fault/the liner/the FA' will be heard loud and clear from the Stretford end.

Shall we warm to the task even more.

"The people I blame are the ones that are letting this happen. The media who have not uttered a peep or written a single article about this for 2 decades. The FA who run the game in this country and have allowed this situation to fester. The clubs who see no issue with having David Gill, United’s CEO, on the board of the FA. And of course, the PGMOB: the people who regulate officiating in England

The person at the head of the PGMOB and who is in charge of selecting which referee gets handed which game is Mike Riley, an ex professional referee who is most famous for giving a penalty for a clear dive by Wayne Rooney in the 2004 Man United 2-0 win against Arsenal which ended the Gunners 49 game unbeaten streak.

Riley was accused of pro United favouritism throughout his career. For younger readers, he’s my generation’s Howard Webb.

According to the Guardian’s research, which goes to back to the beginning of the 1997-98 season until 2004, “Riley refereed 23 United games in all competitions and gave 12 penalties for United in that time, but only three against them. And he has sent off five of United’s opponents.

At Old Trafford, Riley’s record is weighted even more heavily in favour of United: He gave 10 penalties in the 14 games he officiated to the home side, Manchester United.”

Riley’s bias was so suspect than when was awarded the Everton vs Man UtdFA Cup semi final to officiate in 2009, David Moyes actually called for an investigation on whether Riley was a United supporter.

This is the man who now decides which premier league games to assign to referees".

"Moyes has an uneasy history with Riley after the referee controversially awarded a penalty during Everton's final match of the 2002-03 season, also against Manchester United, which cost the club a place in the Uefa Cup. A spokesman for the FA said the choice of official would stand. "All our referees are fair, unbiased and objective," he said. "Mike Riley is one of our top officials and we are 100% confident he will do a good job on Sunday."

The PGMOB is not regulated but a law unto themselves, and are out to make money. They need their refs and liners get the big games in England, Europe and further afield so as to add more money into their coffers. Any 'bad' publicity will damage their standing within UEFA and FIFA. The weakness of the PGMOB to stand up to the Sky 4 or 5 now, stinks to high heaven and the stench of corruption that surrounds the PGMOB is beyond contempt.

Fortunately for your club, you will always benefit from the big decisions going your way to the detriment of the good of the game in England.

Post of the year ( even though we are only 2 days into the year ). That Riley decision against the mancs to give a pen was an absolute disgrace if anyone gas a video clip of it. Weir just stands his ground and Van Nestlé Roy just falls to the ground like he's been shot. That game was currently 1-1 at the time with about 10 minutes to go. Rooney missed about 5 sitters for us that game as well.

It was Stubbs that stood his ground 12.35 in. As bad a decision as Clattenburg's refusal to give us a pen when Carragher assaulted Lescott.

Premier League chief executive Richard Scudamore admits that Manchester United’s struggles this season have damaged the global appeal of the competition.
Considered one of the world’s biggest sporting brands, United have a huge fan-base outside the UK, and their slump since Sir Alex Ferguson was replaced by David Moyes has already affected commercial success.
Speaking during a promotional visit to Johannesburg, Scudamore told Bloomberg: ‘It’s a double-edged sword. When your most popular club isn’t doing as well, that costs you interest and audience in some places.

That was the one mate, the diving little tit and that ref was corrupt and the stats you have put up basically prove it. Would have been a huge deal for us to get Europe that season.

Sky not even trying to hide their love of the RS.

Note that this is the football section. Not the Gerrard section or even the liverpool section. Just the whole of football. Makes me sick.
