Do they expect loyalty from him, he isn't a product of the academy, he has already jumped ship from a club who gave him his opportunity into football.
He will go to the biggest offer.

Yeah, sadly. Saw Tom Ritchie this afternoon, played for Bristol City and Sunderland, (and a Scottish International) when City were in Div 1.

Posting letters for the Royal Mail.

Nor sure Raheem will need a second income when he draws his pension.
I remember him Roydo, lanky, curly haired lad played up front, may even have played alongside Big Joe Royle too:)

...it is amazing how times change. I can imagine that in this day and age, blokes who even have a career outside top flight are in a strong financial position. I remember some years ago a local player who had retired through injury signing a non-league contract paying £700 per game. He received offers to play league football again but couldn't afford to repay the insurance.

the RS infested media has overhyped him up so much that his agent is playing off that quite brilliantly. not that i know anything about agencying, but it seems like it's been made a pretty straightforward process by them from liverpool. based on this he's clearly a greedy sod - they're in cuckoo land if they think he's going to be working as hard whilst getting 180k a week. he's a bright young player, but he's played a year and a half in the prem, liverpool are being so stupid and paying for having such red tinted glasses.

Apparently he was outstanding on Friday and far and away England's best player according to Brazil, cross (mirror) and Wilkins this morning. I must watch a different game. Remember Rooney at 18 carrying a team in the Euros with football that had you on the edge of your seat every time he got the ball? This lad is nowhere near.

He played well the other night. But like you say, a million miles away from carrying a side. Oh, it was Lithuania in a home qualification match as well.

Talented player imo, and one thing I will give him credit for, he does not seem to go missing, and isnt afraid to get on the ball. Seems brave as well, in a football/winger "brave" way.

Take the actual player out of the question, but just how big an ego/nerve must any 20 year old have to ask, in all seriousness apparently, one of the most famous football clubs around, (yeah, shoot me, but they are), to be paid £180,000 A WEEK?

It beggars belief.

probably his agent telling him to ask that much and rightly so. they're desperate, he's been the only bright spark this season since suarez went, he's the only who has the potential to actually be world class. his agent knows this, they pay astronoimcal wages for some seriously sub-standard players, if you compare him to what glenn johnson is on, you would say he's worth £180k.

he's definitely in their top 3 players at the age he's at, he's obviously quite money oritentated, no harm in his agent making him ask, i've always said liverpool would give into whatever demands he asks.

Yeah, earlier in the thread I raised the same issue if his wage demands are real and tbh it is the main reason I think he'll end up at City. From a development standpoint though he'd probably be better joining Arsenal as Wenger has a decent track record of trusting and using young players.

A lot of the media are painting this as "greedy Sterling and his agent want more money" and it might be as simple as that, he has got a bit of a history of just going to the highest bidder.

But his reluctance to sign a new contract might be more complex than that. Perhaps involving factors such as how often he is likely to be in the CL, his playing position and the general squad quality around him - this season there has been an over-reliance on Sterling so he's probably played more minutes than ideal all around the pitch and now is playing with an injury.

hmm, ox is a better winger atm and he barely ever starts. they have sanchez, cazorla, ozil to play in those wide areas as well as ox, ramsey, walcott as possibilities. he's no better than any of them tbh.

Yep, and Wenger is as likely to pay me £180000 a week as Sterling.

Was that an ex Liverpool player eggs as I seem to remember one of them getting crocked and then having a decent non league career and not being able to come up with the team he got promoted with as he had been paid insurance for his injury

That full back springs to mind, christ, Jones maybe. Made a few England teams, and his shins went to plastic or something?
