Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge challenged to play through pain barrier for Arsenal top four showdown
Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers will push Daniel Sturridge to declare himself fit for Saturday’s showdown with Arsenal.
The Reds’ trip to the Emirates could well decide their Champions League fate, and Rodgers is desperate for his England striker to play.

So much for the past Rodgers hysteria about Sturridge's injuries not being respected by Hodgson...not having a regime of "recovery days" etc etc. Now from an expected recovery of four weeks, he wants to throw him in after one. Hypocritical or desperate.....Im thinking both.

Imagine having him as a boss, he'd drive you round the bend.

PMSL at that.

"Sound-as-a-pound" Aldo has a go at Torres getting the plaudits at Anfield on Sunday and (in the comments below) gets an absolute panning fom the people he's pandering to.

I expect the scruffy **** to reverse his opinion of Torres in subsequent weeks - he's got his ale money to protect there FFS!

Torres has done them up like a kipper. Quote YNWA-tick. Praise slippy G as the best player ever- tick. Say Liverpool fans are the best in the world- tick. All is forgiven. Sorry we burnt effigies of you la, get him back on loan Rodgers.

I have kind of missed the stupidity of this charity match. Judging from some facebook posts I've seen some of them seem to have taken this match seriously. I just thought trying to make it into a competitive match was like WWE wrestling, all a big show, but it seems some of them have really fallen for it, like it was an audition for "stevie". Madness.

I can't wait until Hodgson brings this up.

Time to twist that knife Roy.

From the above

Liverpool fans know football, and they are generous. They appreciate the fantastic memories and moments these players have given them.

And yet are the worst shirt burners going.

God I hate aldo

An over the hill Torres and a retired Henry were probably better than their entire strikeforce this season.

I didn't watch the charity game but thought it just came off making Liverpool look small time. It was basically Gerrard saying 'look at all these boss players I used to play with who went on to real big clubs and won stuff whilst I stayed here and won nothing. Come on Nando, Pepe, and Dirk, let's get a photo of when we were all together in that boss team that also won nothing.'

It just looked sad. It was a damning indicator of their status in the game now. The echo spinned it as the lure of the crowd pulling these players back but the reality is the lineup for that charity match was better than the current first team but none of them are ever coming back (not that ego Rodgers would ever let them) because Liverpool are now just a feeder club for the real elite.

Reina, Arbeloa, Alonso, Kuyt, Torres, Suarez all would walk into Liverpools first team.

Even Carragher Shelvey Bellamy and Babel would have a decent chance of making the squad.

As I've said before they have ridden their luck at times this season and hopefully the league table will reflect a poor squad that should be nowhere near top 4.

Yes this sum sit up. Complete un utter cringe. I have no problem with people doing something for the local community, or indeed having a friendly match where clubs welcome back players. Dignity is very important I all of this.

However there was zero dignity in that match, it was overhyped to the point of embarrassments and resembling Hulk Hogan returning to the WWE or something akin.
