ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC"

It is astonishing isnt it? Not me, not the system, not managers sussing him out, but "no excuses for not passing quick enough"

What a horrible man.

Making sure his players stay firmly under the bus yet again, I see. What a great man-manager. The new Shankly, without a doubt

I particularly liked the reference to the state of the Arsenal pitch "We have to build the game quickly and there is no excuse for not doing so at the Emirates because the pitch is so wonderful." A lovely pitchfork in the back for Anfield's groudstaff again, in the reverse fixture earlier on in the season he blamed the state of the ground for the draw.

Admirable that Martinez hasn't done that this season. Annoying too like, but admirable.

I usually dont listen or read too much what a football manager says cos it is usually rubbish anyrate, but my mate is a Reading STH and he told me about this Rogers trait when he was there. I mean, you dont generally have any manager come out and say "I made a right rickett there", but you dont get them coming out and saying the stuff he does either. And it is subtle. He is actually good at it.

Is he? I think most have clicked on haven't they that he throws players under the bus? I used to really like Moyes for that. He was pretty up front about performances and his personal responsibilities.

Liverpool Signings
Let's review the state of play:

Adam Lallana (£27m) - Injured for Saturday's game, again. Has started 19 league games this season and shown flashes of excellence, but far from £27m-worth of value.

Lazar Markovic (£22m) - Shorn of all confidence and removed at half-time, the fall guy for Liverpool's first-half capitulation. Impressively, his 17 league appearances includes being picked at right midfield, left midfield, right wing-back, attacking central midfielder and right-sided forward.

Dejan Lovren (£20m) - Left on the bench in favour of Kolo Toure in a three-man defence. With Martin Skrtel suspended, that makes Liverpool's most expensive ever central defender the fifth choice for his favoured position less than eight months after his signature.

Mario Balotelli (£16m) - The official line is that he declared himself injured for Saturday. The truth is that there has been such a seismic breakdown in relationship between manager and striker that Balotelli may never start another league game for the club.

Alberto Moreno (£12m) - Another worrying display of defensive insecurity. If Moreno is to be successful in the Premier League, he must improve on his positional discipline and current lethargy to spot danger.

Divock Origi (£11m) - Not yet arrived at Anfield. Has scored in two Ligue Un games since September.

Emre Can (£10m) - Sent-off on Saturday. Can has been largely composed in central defence, but Liverpool must surely be missing his presence in central midfield. Was it not worth giving Lovren a start and playing Can instead of Joe Allen to offer some assistance to Lucas? Or vice versa?

Rickie Lambert (£4m) - Has only made four league appearances in 2015: One minutes, five minutes, eight minutes, 19 minutes. An utter waste of a transfer.

The response from many Liverpool supporters is that Rodgers is not responsible for the signings, and therefore the fault lies with the transfer committee, not him. Let's just say that it's therefore a big coincidence that the committee targeted and signed Allen (£15m) and Fabio Borini (£11m), both players who had worked under Rodgers previously. Whoever shoulders the majority of the blame, it's a sorry list.

Good at it? Yeah, but that isnt a good thing! You dont see him getting called out on it other than in here, or probably on United etc forums do you?

Or maybe behind the scenes, the Liverpool players have cottoned on? Actually, I think you are right come to think of it.

I thought this excuse was just about due another airing on Brendan's Carousel of Codswallop.....from today's Guardian:
http://www.theguardian.com/football...ejan-lovren-brendan-rodgers-kolo-toure-fa-cup
"It’s just unfortunate because these players need time and you don’t get that in modern football. We had a big influx of players coming in last summer so it was always going to be difficult for them all to hit it off straight away but I think you can see the progress that has been made. It just takes a bit of time.”

Wont be long before the next cab off the rank ...#blame it on the pitch/groundsmen at Anfield gets cranked up for his next press conference. Oh hang on....oblique reference to it later on in the same article today....
"We need to build the game quickly but it has been too slow and there is no excuse at The Emirates as the pitch is wonderful. It wasn’t just against Arsenal and Manchester United, it was the same in the first half of the Swansea game. The speed of our game hasn’t quite been there, the speed of our passing."

Whereas at Anfield, all excuses should be accepted because of the pitch....

All these underhand deflective excuses he's comes out with must have a real effect on moral, footballers might not be the smartest people but they'll know when they've done the job they were asked to do well enough. Rodgers constantly chipping away at his squad is clearly taking its toll and cracks look to be appearing, if they go out the cup tomorrow to Blackburn they'll turn on him enmass if he starts the blame game.

The frequency of ex players willing to criticise him is a clear indication of his man managmnet skills. As soon as there out and away from the club controlled media interviews it seems all ex players can't wait to have a pop one way or the other, that in itself tells you all you need to know about his standing in a squads eyes.

“We are still trying to find solutions at the top end of the field,” said Rodgers. “Our top goalscorer has six goals – we have three players on six – so we have to find a solution to that but when everyone is fit and available we are able to compete with this squad.”

That is because this new 'philosophy' involves keeping 8 behind the ball, and relying on the front 3 getting the ball quick, supported by Henderson running the length of the field to get in on the act, and doing something. One of the reasons the RS are stumbling at the moment is because the 'worldies' are not going in.

Rodgers is a bushed flush and if they go out against Blackburn the further meltdown will be a sight to behold.
