ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC"

Status on Facebook thus morning from a match going red home and away "holding a service at anfield? [Poor language removed] Juve".

This fella did a charity visit to every ground in England collecting memorabilia from each club for the Hillsborough families as well.

Edit just looked at the profiles of some of the people who liked the status. First one has a cover photo of the names of the 96...couldn't make it up.

Why did you make my eyes see this? On today, of all days? It's my last day in my current [Poor language removed] hole of a job, it's nearly the weekend, I'm on a high, I then read this and feel like I want to just blow the world up. Thanks

Not in any way surprising. Does phil neal like? Or does he want paying before he clicks the thumbs-up sign?

Unfortunately, I really think they could get Klopp. He'd be given a decent wedge to spend - more than he got at Dortmund. It wouldn't take much for a good manager to challenge the top 4 again, and he is of the age where they were the biggest club when he was growing up. He obviously sees himself as a football romantic...it might be too good a chance for him to turn down.

But they are pants atm, and have been shown for the disgusting shower they are in the last year or so, so hopefully the end up with another no mark. Or actually keep the no mark they've got now!
Completely disagree with you, doesnt matter who they get in, would take mad money to get them anywhere near top 4 again. New RB, few CBs, New midfielders, wingers, a few strikers. Not to mention there'll struggle to get the crap they have in now off the books.

Brenda did a great job of messing them up

30 years to the day since the darkest moment in football history. RIP 39.
To lose your life watching a game of football is unthinkable.

I still remember the day.
I was still euphoric after the CWC triumph and I was looking forward to my brother taking me to watch us compete in the European Cup the following season too.

People should phone/email murkeyside asking for him to be sacked. I'll be emailing the roger phillips phone-in about this this afternoon. That's an absolutely disgraceful attitude. What a scumrat.

Still a typical rs...even for them pretty poor
Still bitter, he thought he had the inside track for Player Manager until queen Kenny got it.

RAWK posters on Heysel:

  • "It was a while before I asked my brother anything about it but his story was consistent with the other stories on here. Our fans out of order but provocated badly. Something he told me that nobody has mentioned is that Juventus fans had been poking knives through the wire fence. He'd also mentioned Chelsea fans. He said on the night before the match he was sitting in a bar and some lads had hung up a Union Jack with Chelsea on it. He asked them what they were doing here and they'd said something along the lines of, we're here for the fun and games if you know what I mean?"

  • "Fan violence is wrong and of course can never be tolerated, but......It seems the real issue here was the state of the stadium, which sounds like it was absolutely unbelievably run down and deteriorating. This seems to be the crux of the issue, along with the lack of policing of tickets and fans coming into the stadium and lastly the mindboggling arranging of opposition fans within the stadium, many far too close to each other than they should have been. If it hadn't been for the state of the stadium and the walls literally crumbling, surely no one would have died that night? Am I getting this right? If so, I just can't understand why this club was made the scapegoat for everything that happened."

  • "Peter Robinson point...a while back, offering his memories on the fixture and the events that unfolded. It's interesting to see him reference the "southern accents" that he encountered that day as well, along with the belief that a lot of the National Front contingent used to travel abroad with English clubs. Certainly seems to back up the account of others in here."

Will they EVER face up to that crime and and put the blame where it belongs? I know some are coming round to address it, shamed into it for the most part, but there's no definitive mea culpa as they rightly demand of the police over Hillsborough.

Good piece in the Guardian concerning this:

Despite me thinking/worrying Klopp was going to liverpool I think it's safe to say Rogers must be staying as they're throwing bids in left right and centre for players

Heysel, yes the ground was not fit for purpose, yes hooliganism was rife, but at least accept some responsibility for your actions, the Echo has 4/5 articles running about it not one says that the sh1te were responsible in any way,not one comment saying sorry or RIP,
hold your hands up your the club who played there not Chelsea not Everton, not NF wanderers

From the comments

Most sensible people don't think the Liverpool supporters were wholly to blame for the Heysel tragedy. Liverpool, like most major English (and Italian) clubs at the time, contained a substantial hooligan element. The type of terrace invasion which triggered the Heysel disaster was regular feature of football during the 1970's and 1980's. Looking back, the surprise was that something similar hadn't already happened. However, what irritated many was the apparent reluctance of Liverpool Football Club to accept any responsibilty & the ludicrous assertion by the club chairman that the hooliganism on that day was caused by the National Front.

That is it all in a nutshell
