Still a typical rs...even for them pretty poor
Still bitter, he thought he had the inside track for Player Manager until queen Kenny got it.

Still waiting for murkeyside to read out my email..........

But, just for a second, imagine the uproar from them lot if Neil Webb (For example) did the same about hillsborough?

Just had TalkSport on and that Kopite Colin Murray made a 2 minute mention of it being the anniversary of Heysel today, his excuse for not saying anything substantial about it was he didn't know enough of what went on and wouldn't like to misrepresent anything.

Now this is a guy in his late 30's who's a self confessed Liverpool fan, season ticket holder, celebrity fan and friends with some of the players and manager. So you'd think that being a radio presenter on a sports station he'd have some prior knowledge of the background that went on on that day wouldn't you. He's a person who at the drop of a hat has an opinion on anything sport related on any given day, and only this week has been putting FIFA's house in order on a hourly basis.

Wouldn't you think he'd have some insight into what went on in English football's most shameful night, especially as it involves his beloved club? Would it have been to much to ask for him to say how much of an embarrassing stain on his club this was and how it's still follows English football clubs round now to this day.

There's not one of them who's ever been prepared to accept that Heysel was shameful, embarrassing and murderous and it was all their fault.

I'd rather forget that night. It was an ordeal. But, Jamie, why should I help you out? I'm helping you pay your mortgage [by talking to you about Heysel]. When people ask me for my view, they usually have to pay for it. You're asking for my help for nothing. To pay your mortgage, Jamie. I mean, what do you want from me?

I just thought that as the captain of Liverpool football club on that night at Heysel it would be good to hear your view?

Yes but what do you want from me? If I talk to you for a few minutes, then I'm helping you pay your mortgage and what am I getting in return? Do you know what I mean?

Well, I have been to Italy and talked with some of the families of the victims and they say that the trophy should be given back by Juventus to commemorate what happened.

About Juventus? Why are you asking me? Why are you asking someone on the Liverpool side? Juventus made amends very soon. Ask them ... Jamie I'm helping you pay your mortgage. People who want my views pay.

I'm sorry, but everyone else I have spoken to has ...

Great. So you've spoken to people, you've got your views. You've got your Liverpool view, but if you want mine for free, well people pay for them.

I will either get lol at or you will just give me the  look. Is the piece above actually true or just everybody having a dig at the man because of his money grabbing behaviour ?

Like seriously is this real ?

Surprised he went on abar it for two minutes tbh. Surely it wasn't that long...........

It is seriously unbelievable isn't it......yet apparently true......

30 years to the day since the darkest moment in football history. RIP 39.
To lose your life watching a game of football is unthinkable.

I still remember the day.
I was still euphoric after the CWC triumph and I was looking forward to my brother taking me to watch us compete in the European Cup the following season too.

As dark as it was I dont know if it is the darkest ? there have been events since then such as fans murdered in Egypt, National team bus opened fire on in Africa with players slaughtered.

From the comments

Most sensible people don't think the Liverpool supporters were wholly to blame for the Heysel tragedy. Liverpool, like most major English (and Italian) clubs at the time, contained a substantial hooligan element. The type of terrace invasion which triggered the Heysel disaster was regular feature of football during the 1970's and 1980's. Looking back, the surprise was that something similar hadn't already happened. However, what irritated many was the apparent reluctance of Liverpool Football Club to accept any responsibilty & the ludicrous assertion by the club chairman that the hooliganism on that day was caused by the National Front.

That is it all in a nutshell

I can believe that there probably were southerners and NF there, not exactly far away & with the potential of a dust up for some that had been to Turin with England theres every possibility but they weren't the ones to point the blame at.
Weird how none of them sought party in Rotterdam the week before though ? despite the media with their EFC/NF stories at the time.

What has shocked me as well today though is what went on in Italy following it. For a Start that European Cup should have been Donated and Mounted as a memorial to those that died, but there was nothing it seems and no support from the club to the relatives at all.

Of course there were southern voices, where else do vermin fans come from.

The Semi at Wembley the other year, coaches upon coaches of blues on the motorway, didnt see a single vermin until we got down south.

That line from Alan Kennedy too.....

"People talk about the penalty that settled the game. Whether Gary Gillespie's foul on [Zbigniew] Boniek was inside or outside the penalty box. But we could not win that match. Juventus fans had died and we were conscious that everyone would blame the club."

Wow, blaming their loss of a European final on the fact they took pity on a club who's fans had just been murdered by theirs.

I think this is worth a mention again too, from the same piece.

Basically, Alan Kennedy says they lost that final on purpose. Unbelievably crass, but expect no less really.

I'd give my opinion on this piece, but I am not being adequately compensated.

Eh...screw that. He's a [Poor language removed]

And of course, he has to mention a dodgy referee's decision in his version of events.............We couldn't win it because of that referee.......

Sorry mate im not having it, for now i will laugh at it as some sort of wind up, if it turns out to be true then i will still laugh but out of sheer disbelief. Honestly people who dont have any huge Everton fans in their friends/family circle just dont understand why we would much rather support EFC or anybody else for that matter over that Cult. Their behaviour never really suprises you, which is why im thrown a little when i actually come across a decent LFC fan. They are a special breed in deed - not for the right reasons either.

Makes me sick tbh mate.
If we were ever involved in anything like that, truthfully, I would quit supporting Everton if the club didn't castigate those at fault, or our fans accept the blame.

It's de rigeur throughout the entire ethos of that club. From chairman to programme vendor. Always was, always will be.

I think that's the sensible approach.........
