ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC"

This article is downright offensive.

Peter Hooton is an absolute disgrace for his obvious attempts to shift the blame.

It would have been better that some actual APPROPRIATE wreath laying occurred.

None of this Brendan Rodgers pity trips laying wreaths all over the place.

This is one incident that LFC should genuinely hang their heads over. Because they're still trying to gloss it over. Evidenced by Peter Hooton.

Because I know if it were Everton there'd be no excuses from me.

'Some rival fans don’t know the truth about Heysel'

TBH the two disasters are a lot more alike than is represented - Heysel was and was known to be fundamentally unsafe; as was a ground where one decision from Duckenfield resulted in 96 deaths, and only better decisions made in 1981 prevented a load of Spurs fans being killed.

I suppose that in one sense the Police cover-up was massively successful, in that the FA and Sheffield Wednesday have never faced the degree of criticism that they perhaps should have for what went on there.

Not really. Heysel was caused by hooliganism.

Hillsborough was caused by police incompetence on which I won't elaborate as its going through a public inquiry as we speak.

But the fact remains. Heysel and Hillborough are entirely different.

One WAS the fault of the LFC hooligans and some (Italian) Juventus but mainly LFC.

Hillsborough happened because they opened the gates when they should not of.

Thats my point though - a football stadium where one decision to open one gate results in nearly a hundred deaths can never be said to be safe, especially when they knew it had happened before and did nothing to fix it.

Heysel saw similar incompetence - holding the final there being probably the biggest - but in that case it couldnt be ignored, nor could the antics of the fans beforehand.

Exactly. Heysel's stadium was crap, there's no denying that and the fact they put a "neutral" section next to the LFC section protected by nothing then a chain link fence and a few cops is just mind boggling to me.

But if people were on their best behavior, no one would of died at Heysel. I can't say the same for Hillsborough.

I will agree with Tusbaki that with Hillsborough the warning signs were there in 1981 on what happens in the Leppings Lane end if it isn't policed properly. I would further into that but I don't want my post to get removed due to the inquiry so i'll leave it at that.

Gentlemen we are in the middle of the Coroner's Inquests, please adhere to the AG's warnings about commenting whilst the Inquests take place.

By all means discuss Heysel but not Hillsborough.

Thank you.

There's footage on YouTube of Heysel and there's a couple of Munich 58 banners clearly on display

It's true that all clubs have fans who are bells, but I just think Liverpool have more than most -
They're the most hideous, snide, lack of accountability shithouses ever produced on this planet.

I'm delighted that the wider footballing world is onto them, and they're ex player bells in the media can't stop the torrent of hostility towards them.

The murdering, murdering bastards.
