ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC"

I go out of my way to not watch them mate if I'm being honest. But I do tend to put a little bit of money on from time to time and Sterling has been some thing of a value pick ion the markets - cleaned up on him at the start of the season, but not worth a bean second half.

In all fairness he's a terrific player and one well worth I would say 35 mill, given his age maybe 40. Brodge lost him after the England debacle and he's has been played at right back for most the second half of the season.

Will prove a very good player I have no doubt.
absolute tosh... he's struggling without suarez next to him occupying defences... the boy has pace to burn but is wastefull and heavily 1 footed.

there's no way he's worth £40m. that's more than an obvious world class potential player like hazard. it's more than an alexis sanchez or a diego costa. it's around about the same as ozil! ozil's a lazy little sh*t but he's a fantastic footballer. sterling has potential granted, but as with any liverpool player it goes way over the top. you have to expect a bit more than potential for £40m. i mean i wouldn't say he's better than lukaku, he doesn't have stats that put him right up there with the best like lukaku - why is he worth £12m more?

Just made the mistake of going on rawk and bluemoon.

Both seem to think 40m is the price.

I read a post on bluemoon that nearly made me ill tho, basically they are looking to spend 180m on Sterling, De Bruyne, Pogba, a LB and a squad player.

Somebody needs to remind them that they currently have 1 homegrown player.

So the rs have been slagging sterling for weeks. Calling him over rated and crap and yet they say in the same sentence that they want 50 million for him

That last sentence is why lpool will milk them for Sterling.

For what it's worth, I think he is a good player with lots of potential and I will glad to see him go. They're losing there best player again this summer IMO and as long as that keeps happening, I won't complain.

Which is why I'm starting to worry that they'll be sniffing around Barkley very soon

In relation to Sterling, 50 Million is far too much for him

He could go for that in about 2 years time after developing a bit more at Liverpool, but right now he isn't ready and that money is ridiculous

I could see City paying 40 million for him just because they can..... they're not gonna be arsed if he sits on their bench for 3 years but they will be sending liverpool a clear message that they can come and take their players whenever they want.

It speaks very poorly of Sterling if he takes the big pay day to go and sit on a bench at City

Now, he may think he's good enough to go there and start every week

If that's the case, he needs better advice because there's no way that will happen

If he stays at Liverpool, he'll get regular miniutes and can grow as a player

I think those with fingers in the pie are pushing this move to line their own pockets

The delicious irony is that they don't see that they're essentially killing their cash cow by forcing it in this way. Yeah, they might get 40 Million now, but if he stays at Liverpool and develops into a better player, he can end up going for even more than that in a couple of years time. He'd be a top bracket wage and transfer fee player from that point onward, meaning he'll bring oodles of cash in

If he goes to a big club too soon and flops, that's it for his money making potential. Sure, he won't ever be cheap, but the chance for him being top bracket will have gone once he's become another Scott Sinclair
