ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC"

I am so angry that all the big spending clubs just don't know where Everton is - as the legend goes. After all, with all those charitable donations to the other lot (Torres, Suarez and now, in particular, Sterling) keep giving to causes in our city out of the goodness of their hearts wouldn't it great if someone was to come along and pay double or more the real value for one of our players - I mean wouldn't you want us to take £60M or so for Ross Barkley?

no mate...Ross stays.

And in recent history we've received arguably over-valued money for Fellaini, Vic, AJ and a few others.

I wasn't advocating we sell him - merely that the right price multiplied by the L Factor would be about twice the present value and a bit more. You know, like a broken Torres (maybe you'd risk £20M on him, double that and add a bit more and bingo, here's the cheque from Chelsea - ditto Sterling (£23M x 2 plus a bit more = £50M!!!)).

Most of them ex Liverpool players left, including Mascerano, because it wasn't what was said in the brochure.

The market's skewed, especially among the monied clubs. Total fees are inflated to cover all manner of corrupt subfees, especially concerning agents. It's a big scratch-me-back-i'll-scratch-yours thing going. As corrupt as FIFA if/when the breaking-downs ever come out in the wash.

But saying that, we've always done pretty well in getting inflated money for our lost talent: Lescott too as well as Fellaini, Vic, AJ. Almost 70m quid just for those 4 players.

@JBurtTelegraph: Liverpool go cool on Christian Benteke as focus switches to Fernando Llorente and Carlos Bacca | via @telegraph http://t.co/CcJhzFlsCw

think llorente has always been overhyped and i think he's finished tbh - would love them to spunk a wad on him instead of benteke. the thing with benteke is that they got rid of a similar styled player in carroll as it didn't fit in with the ethos. same could be said of llorente as well.

bacca's good, would cause a lot of problems vs us for sure.

Llorente is decent but as you suggest they would have to radically change their system to fit him in, and it would make zero sense given that they got rid of that system when Carroll left. Bacca would be daft to go to them, another season like he had last year and he will be going to somewhere like Real Madrid and be on serious money.

Same can be said for Benteke on both counts really.

I don't think it matters as much now how they outspend us. The fact is they don't attract a higher calibre of player than we do anymore.

In the unlikely event they sign Bacca it might get a bit exciting if he brings his Mum to a derby.

Carlos Bacca’s mother has admitted she would have clobbered Neymar with her high heel if she had been in the Estadio Monumental for the ill-tempered Copa América game between Colombia and Brazil on Wednesday night.
...
“I felt anger and helplessness; I wanted to be there to push him [Bacca] away so they couldn’t hit him because it could have been serious,” Bacca’s mother said afterwards. “But if I’d have been in the stadium I would have taken off my high heel and hit Neymar; I know many women in the stadium would have joined me.”
