Nice to see their new signing Gomez is following in the tradition of loyalty like so many predecessors ......

“The club has got great history and it’s a great club, and one that I’ve always been following from when I was young. The style of football and the top players here was somewhere that I wanted to go and get better and learn, and play good football. It was an easy decision.”

Hes 18.
They have a stock set of phrases they wheel out to feed to the newbies and keep the sharks happy - I mean imagine if they tried an Aaron Lennon-style photo-shoot. They'd go all Itanje on them.

I am waiting for them to unearth an aboriginal Brazilian from darkest Amazon who doesn't speak a word of any popular language but who has faithfully followed them since he was a wee lad running around in the jungle (naturally every Saturday he would race down to the local village and find the television and sit captivated watching his heroes perform).

Gomez is doing a Cole.

What has he got that I'm missing? I'm not saying he's awful but £50m??

I rate him if im honest, he is at a standard at 20 where hes capable of double figures in goals and assists from largely a wide position. He also has pace that kills. As for the fee = home grown and he has a career ahead of him if he was 28 he might go for 15 mill, i think its the longevity, impact, potential and home grown player.

Someone like Walcott didnt have the stats Sterling has had at the same age.

3. He’s a Gooner
Despite signing for Liverpool, Gomez grew up as an Arsenal fan. The defender has lived in Catford, south London for the majority of his life and still follows the Gunners’ results closely. Sean Kearns for Metro.co.ukSaturday 20 Jun 2015 1:31 pm.

He's been forced to do a Joe Cole.

Spot on! Age has a massive influence on transfer fees. Take Rooney for example, he's cost the mancs an average transfer fee of £3million per season. An absolute steal in hindsight.

Of course, there's potential for things to go wrong, but if Sterling is a first choice for City for ten years, then they won't give a crap about spending 50 million on him.

I see the Momo Sissoko name being mentioned here lately, Momo was actually a decent player before he signed for Liverpool, so was that Jovanovic guy, so was Joe Cole, Andy Carroll and Downing could of been a good alternative to the boring sideways stuff. The problem they all have is they sold their soul to the devil and all they got in return was a three pronged staff shafted right up their hoop. Even Dirk Kuyt was thrown out wide for no reason, although i do think kuyt was good for them overall.

Morientes springs to mind as well. They seem to just destroy players.

I've said it before and etc etc.

*sticks neck out for a good vaulting. Sterling has peaked he won't be anywhere in 5yrs, let alone 10

Haha, hope you're right mate.

I do think he might represent good value though. Can't see him not attracting bids of at least £20-30 million for the next few years. If he plays for City for a few years, they'll get their monies worth. If not, they'll get a good chunk of cash for him.

I see it's now suggested that Pepijn Lijnders, the RS U16's coach may step up to the first team. So that was their big plan after all.........

He's just the stop gap until Brenda goes.

He's got the job as well, I thought that was well known tbh.
