ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC"

But its OK for them to raid Southampton don't understand how they can act like this, sterling wanted to leave for a bigger club just like lovern and co did
Also don't see them questioning Ings club loyalty for refusing to sign a new contract with Burnley and turning down a move to Spurs that would have been far more lucrative for his parent club.

Instead Burnley are at the mercy of the transfer tribunal to decide how much compensation they get for a player they developed for the last four years.

But one apparently is just business whereas the other is a traitorous act that requires many column inches and vitriol.

I just hope Bill has been on the phone to the States offering them McGeady as a direct replacement for only 30M and Kone (as Rodgered was moaning about a lack of strikers) for a knock-down price of £20M

The mass hysteria theyve induced amongst themselves and their Media Groupies over this defies any rationale. Suarez wanted to leave too...and a variety of others jibbed them for better things. They make a show of themselves over everything whilst supposedly acting with their self proclaimed class and dignity. None of them have come out of this with any glory. They can now move on to their next cause celebre....seeing how high up the wall their sailor-on-shore-leave manager can pi*s away his wallet, fat from the spoils of this farce.

Sterling has killed any chance he ever had of developing into a world class player with this transfer

He should have stayed at Liverpool. He's not ready yet and he won't get the chance to develop sitting on City's bench

He'll be playing for Swansea in 2-3 years

Still, at least his agent made some money from him before he sinks into obscurity

Don't think City will pay 50m for a player they plan on benching. He is pretty versatile for a young player so can work in several positions and formations. Since Milner left they only have Silva, Navas, Nasri for the wings and tbh think even you would fancy your chances of playing ahead of Navas, especially given the number of competitions they are in.

It's a cynical move by City to increase their home grown player tally while also denying Liverpool a good player

Meanwhile, Liverpool and Sterling's agent line their pockets

The only loser in all of this is Sterling himself

He's been talked into stunting his development and he'll never reach his full potential now

200k a week will prob be of some comfort

Yeah, for two years. Then it'll be Scott Sinclair wages for the rest of his life

Still loads for regular human beings like, but could have been top tier wages for the rest of his career if he'd spent some more time developing at Liverpool

He's not considered the long time ramifications of this at all, which was probably his agents doing. He smelled a quick cash in and took it

Agree that some of the move has been fueled by the quota and the desire to weaken a rival but don't think those alone are enough to break the record for an English player.

He'll learn a lot from playing with Aguero and Silva that could well improve his all round game and provided he copes with the added pressure think he'll get reasonable game time. Perhaps not as much as he would at Liverpool but there is a balance between enought game time to develop and too much that can risk burn out - his 4500+ minutes last season was probably a bit too close to the latter.

Guess we'll see!
