Maybe he'll get played and rested at the correct times now like we've come to expect all youngs players are. Which then will aid his development and hopefully prolong his short career instead of being played 50+ games and carrying the team at such a young age?

Probably won't have to put up with being used as a jack of all trades either. Think the tactical genius used him as a right back, a right/left winger, a central attacking mid, and a striker last season

Wonder why wee reem isn't keen on working with him anymore?

Wow, that truly is one shocking piece of RAWK mentality journalism.

Shocking, init mate. On sale in every Newsagent in the country - your London kopite using his job to infest the media with his bollocks. I'm not sure who to be pissed off with more: The journo for using his position to write, and publish an article like that, that is meant to be a national news/opinion piece, or his boss for allowing that drivel to be actually published.

Raheem Sterling: Brendan Rodgers has 'no issue' over move

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers says he has no issues with Raheem Sterling as the England forward prepares to join Manchester City for £49m.

Speaking at the start of the Reds' pre-season tour. Rodgers confirmed the move will go through subject to a medical.

"Contrary to what has been written, Raheem and I have always remained strong in our relationship. There is no issue there," said Rodgers.

lol

Sterling rejected a £100,000-a-week contract offer to remain at Anfield.

And it was reported last week that his relationship with Rodgers had broken down over the protracted transfer negotiations.

The Liverpool manager, who says he spoke to Sterling "at length" on Sunday, would not be drawn on any more new signings but welcomed the addition of Brazil forward Roberto Firmino, signed for £29m from German club Hoffenheim.

"Roberto Firmino is a top-class player," he said.

"Of course there is no pressure. He will come into the Premier League and it takes a bit of time to adapt. But he has all the traits we want from a player. He works very hard.

lol :bye:

"Transfers is not really something I want to go into in a press conference. I spent a lot of last season talking about transfers and don't intend to this year.

"Any business done will be done behind the scenes at the club."

:Blink::Blink::Blink:

But Rodgers did add that he is pleased with his dealings so far, saying: "Our aim is to be stronger and more competitive next season."

Self-preservation. I'll give the tactical genius one thing... He's good at that.

No mention of how Liberpewl have just lost their best player from last season because he thinks the manager is a bell.

Brenda.. In Bangkok having his mind taken off losing Sterling.

I think the disappointing thing out of this whole affair is that Liverpool, at least on the surface of things, have came out positively from this.

They've amassed neigh on forty million quid from his departure, while Sterling's and his agent's antics have took centre stage in the press.

Have they lost their best player? Or have they simply released a potential 'live-wire' and in the meantime swindled City for loads of cash?

I for one was one who said he wasn't that good, or at least yet: a potential rather than a player showing consistent signs of actual ability.

Based solely on that it sounds like a fantastic deal for them; almost fifty-million quid for a player who is arguably replaceable unlike Suarez was.

Yes they have lost one of their best players and they'll probably squander it all away like usual, but right now it all smells of roses for them.

Deep down I think there are some major cracks appearing (as shown in this affair), although the Red-Press will soon papier-mâché over them.

Nice bit of objective journalism from The Mirror and Liverpool fan Jim Boardman here...

haha waaa waaa

This appears to be the bell curve of Raheem's career

Arrives, highly likely to be great
Plays a game, does well... he's amazing
Wins some games.. omg, this kid
Plays a further good game, world class
Liverpool are the top club in the world and he's their beacon

Leaving...

Useless.

Liverpool haven't sold Stirling for 49 million. not sure why everyone thinks they have.

They have sold him for 35 million. 5 is conditional and over 9 goes to qpr so realistically the price is being inflated for media purposes and everyone is biting

They do this all the time. The did it with Suarez when Barcelona announced they had paid 75 million Euro's. They start bleating on about it being pounds. With the exchange rate as it is, it means they got about 50 million quid for Suarez.

This offer is 44 down with another 5 in add ons, if buts and maybe's. It's like us saying we got 20 million for Rodwell, it would just be untrue. 44 down, 10 to QPR equals 34 million quid. I've read QPR's sell could be 25 so as much as 12.5 million. Before you know what's what they could be receiving as low as 32 million for him.

Still a great deal. But it won't stop them whining about "net spend" and counting Sterling as 49 million (or 50 million) in that.

Bollocks. Money doesn't win games. Good players do (I admit that good players cost money)

Liberpewl are now a selling club. The list is quite long. Torres, Alonso, Mascherano, Sterling, Suarez and errr, Steven Gerrard (remember him? the captain fantastic that f****d up Liberpewls best chance of winning the league in a generation?)

Hiya mate :p

I highly doubt he'll be merely rested at the right times

He'll be playing in the Cup games mostly

He might just make enough league appearances to get a medal, but most of those apps will be as a sub

No other clubs fans are allowed to print such utter drivel to the general public on a national scale. The whole club and everyone connected with them make me absolutely sick to the pit of my stomach, a horrible, banal, disgrace of an institution in every sense of the word. I'd love nothing more than to see them just fold

Apologies for not quoting the original article I can't find it. It is a truly awful article. Someone should write a comeback and send it into the mirror.

Dear Jim,

Firstly nice attempt to look like an average fan when you are a paid hack, classy bit of deception there. As a football supporter it mis best to correct some of the lies and nonsense you have peddled in your piece.

Firstly, Sterling was as much pushed out of your club as he wanted to leave. You are a no mark team who specialise in selling players to the big clubs who win things. Suarez, Torres, Mascherano, Alonso and now Sterling. You desperately want to sell these players and go to enormous lengths to overhype them in order to get the best price. Hacks like yourself in the press are central to this. It has already started with Coutinho, banding a decent tidy player world class in an attempt to get a bidding war going next summer. Those same morons will then turn on the media and make out it's the presses fault for Liverpool selling their best players.

Secondly, James Milner is paid to make such ridiculous statements. You have signed a Manchester City reserve player and paid him more than what you lot considered the best young player in the world. Manchester City have won the title twice in the last 4 seasons. You haven't won the league in the last 26 years. You are the Huddersfield town of the 1970's.

Comparing Manchester City to Everton is another stupid thing to add, the two clubs are not comparable.

Fourthly, the Liverpool protestors never once went to Wall Street. You cried and whinged that the debt you wracked up with overspending should be bailed out. It was, by venture capitalists who trade on wall street. At no point did you ever raise the slogan or idea of fan ownership.

Next time, try to write with substance why it is that Liverpool every season go out of their way to offload their best players. You are no longer a big club and behave like a small team. Rodgers looks thoroughly stupid saying he wouldn't leave when he has. As a journalist, why not comment on these things, instead of pretending to be an ordinary fan, writing open letters, (your piece was a column).

Regards

Because Jesus Navas will obviously be starting all the league and CL games, the world class irreplaceable talent that he is
