Suppose it depends on how much the other teams you are competing against have also spent.

They have raked in over 150M in player sales from 3 players too to balance that!

They've spent more than Chelsea in the last 3 years including sales.

I think there's only City who have spent more.

Shocked at Spurs tbh

Remember how everyone always moaned that Spurs had loads of money and we were a selling club when the reality has clearly been that they have sold their stars to buy whereas we have limited incomings in order to keep our better players.

If you look over a 10-12 year period, I would guess that we average a higher league position than them.

Probably, we seemed to trade places for 'best of the rest' quite a bit in recent times. For some reason though they're viewed by the media as one of the big 6 and we're not. In the last four seasons we've finished ahead of Liverpool twice, ahead of United once, and ahead of Spurs once, yet during this time we never once entered into any sort of conversation about who might make up the new top four, or big 5, or super six, whatever they want to call it. In reality it's just 'these are our favourite teams because they have a lot of money regardless of where they finish, if you're not one of these teams then we'll treat you like cannon fodder regardless of where you finish'

I put it down to 2 things, 'The London' thing, and the 10 years of Moyes pushing the Under-dog and 'Finishing top 10 is like winning the Champions League' attitude.

To balance it a little, you could forgive Spurs fans for thinking that as they have made the CL group stage twice, albeit once they were shoved out when Chelsea won it!

Tottenham qualify for Europe every year, have had a couple of stabs at the Champions League and occasionally boast genuinely world-class players. Of course they're more exciting to the media than our have a go heroes.
