Yup. I remember having a back and forth with my Spurs-supporting cousin, in which I laughed at their spending. How wrong I was, he completely chinned me with stats about Levy's financial prudence.

The sold Bale for £80M which basically sorted them out........
Without the Bale money they are still just over £23m net spend across the last five seasons, which is less than Stoke.

Arguably they wouldn't have signed as many players if it were not for the extra Bale cash, so some would argue it 'could' be even lower.

For their frequently fair to high position in the league and the relative calibre of player they bring in, I'd say they're generally prudent.

Spurs just getting top end prices like the RS do, fair play to them. If Strrling didn't want to go the fee would have been 70+ for Sterling, he made his position untenable.

We do we'll selling mid range players for good prices but come up short top end.

I've said it before within the last week but I'd be talking about Bale esque prices for Stones, ridiculous figures. He's not for sale but if anyone asking wants to pay £60 million then we can start talking.

I've got no doubt we could get something like that one day very soon. I have no doubt whatsoever Spurs or the RS would get it for such a player, young, English with a long time left on his contract who's not angling for a move and is potentially the best in the world in his position and a future England captain.

The bar needs to be set ridiculously high, there's clubs out there who don't care for money.

Lets take a moment to reflect on this picture.

We did do well there but we dodged a bullet with the other crowd.

As poor as I think they are, Suarez single handedly dragged them to that position and certain players to another level. You would never believe the fall that happened from there.

It's the stuff of fairy tales.
