ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC"

They're favourites because of all the deludes lumping on them all the time. The bookies odds aren't chances of winning; they're just to balance the betting.

On every single football fact/stat, we are in the box seat; higher, more points, (obv), better GD, at home. Subjectively, playing better.

But.

Frank de Boer is the latest European manager to show interest in managing Liverpool, a move that will inevitably intensify the pressure that Brendan Rodgers continues to come under following a poor start to the season.
Frank Sidebottom has registered an interest, and being dead won't want big wages

........The Reds failed to beat Sion in the Europa League on Thursday - a team who have lost four of their opening 10 games in the Swiss league - and defeat at the weekend could see Liverpool drop into the bottom half of the Premier League table.

Despite this, and Everton's fifth-place standing in the table, Liverpool are still favourites for victory with a number of leading bookmakers, and Rogers admits he is glad of that.
Speaking at his press conference ahead of the match, he told reporters: 'We will always take the favourite tag. When you are at Liverpool that is what you want.'We are happy if people want to put that onto us - we are Liverpool. There is no advantage or disadvantage for us. If we are the favourites it shows we are a big club and people look to us as the team who want to have that initiative.

'We are definitely a team where every game we go into the level of opponents' games goes up and that is because of the nature of the club we are. It shows you the level of expectancy here as opposed to another club. We are happy to live with that.'

Rodgers: "they're one point ahead of us, yet they've had a great start, we've had a disaster - i guess that goes to show the standing of the two clubs"

Wow. We'll conveniently ignore that our fixtures have been MASSIVELY harder than theirs, eh?

Aston Villa
Norwich
Man Utd
West Ham
Arsenal
Bournemouth
Stoke

as opposed to our

West Brom
Swansea
Chelsea
Tottenham
Man City
Southampton
Watford

Not saying ours haven't been slightly harder, just saying as much as they have been terrible and we've been great, they aren't actually much worse off and have the capacity to improve greatly, where as we need to keep at this level for the rest of the season.
There's much more than a "slight" difference in those fixtures

They should be expecting to win 5 of theirs (maybe 4)

Whereas we'd realistically be thought of by most outsiders as solid favourites to win 1 maybe 2.

Well Naismith should have been sent off before scoring 3 against Chelsea. And Kone was offside for the equaliser against WBA.

what are you on? was never a red.

also the offside was so so marginal, it's one of those decisions that usually goes against us. if it went against us i wouldn't mind, it's so tough to call it in real time.

their influence in the media can state all they want that klopp, ancelloti etc. are "interested" in the job. The fact is, they did the same thing 3 years ago before "choosing" their 5th choice from swansea. There's been no actual quotes saying these managers are interested. A guy in work today, who's normal, mentioned all these names and i just kept quiet, i couldn't be bothered notifying the fact. He was saying "they're actually interested though and he doesn't care if they lose 10-0 so long as it means rodgers is gone". would love to see them deal with a 10-0 humiliation after saying things like this.
