The same Agents that Liverpool used to 'lure' him away from his last club you mean ?

I

I hope the lad screws them over

If they give him 50k a week at 18 years of age how much will the lad be looking for when the 4 years is up?

Theve backed themselfs into a corner with this one

All rivalry and stuff aside, if you were Sterling would you sign a new contract?

Nope, me neither.

They offering him what 20% of what joe cole earns and less than half if not a third of what downing and probably Henderson are on whilst he's a first team regular and in the England squad whilst Liverpool will be lucky to finish top 8. If I was him and they wanted me to stay it'd cost them pure and simple.

loyalty is almost non-existant in football, what rodgers said was pure desperation. The only reason sterling would accept it was if he loved liverpool so much that it was a pleasure to play for them - sterling doesn't seem like one of those people. he'll be at chelsea or man city next season probably (not that he's anywhere near what chelsea have got/they don't play that formation). same goes for city position wise really. the prices they pay for their average players is laughable

Christ they need to get rid of those three pronto or they're going to struggle to get anyone for anything close to "good value".

In relative terms Sterling should be getting offered double what's being banded around. It'll be interesting to see how this one unfolds.

Henderson is a weird one, he was doing pretty good in that Sunderland side, moved to Liverpool and seems to have got progressively worse. As for Downing and Joe Cole..... lol.

That's just it, he wasn't. He was bog standard, plodding along not doing much, then Liverpool threw £20m at Sunderland who snapped their hands off as quick as they possibly could. I remember reading a few Sunderland forums about his move at the time - the vast majority couldn't believe they had got £20m for him.

I remember watching him a few times at Sunderland and wondering what the fuss was about. He seemed slow, weak in possession and unable to move properly in the final third when he got there. That's simply continued at Liverpool.

Dalglish decimated that club with his bizarre signings

They've already been shafted by sharp agents on all the deals out and who do you think paid Adam's signing on fee because it wasn't stoke that's for sure. The deals they put players or & the deals to but them were ridiculous , I think with Henderson they enquried Sunderland quoted a price and no negotiation liverpool paid it. I imagine you can still here Sunderland laughing all the way to the bank .

On sterling I'm bit sure lpool will meet the players demands but I can't see him accepting less that £30-35k ish with structured rises based on various criteria.

If someone offers this kid the big wages he wants I think he'll be off. The issue is if any club fancies that deal .

sunderland, must have thought it was a joke. i remember seeing his name as he scored 1 good goal, but i'd seriously never heard much about him. when i saw liverpool bid £20 mill i thought ah maybe he's quite a good player then. 9 million for a 1 in 5 player like charlie adam was pretty stupid and then a further 20 on a player in downing who was quite clearly a mid-table kind of player and someone who would not make it in a big pressure job. as showed every time he pulled on an england shirt.

he has decimated the club, where do they go from here?

^^^^^

Spot on sheeds.

I think you have to take his age out of the equation here; it's his role in the side. He's infinitely more important to Liverpool than Joe Cole is, so it's not unreasonable to ask for 50% of his wages at the minimum.

Plus, Sterling will get interest from much bigger clubs than Liverpool. It's the same situation as us with Wayne Rooney in every single way - comparatively small club, interest from bigger fish.

I'd be surprised if Sterling stayed tbh as there's no professional reason for him to do so. Same with Suarez. You don't stay on board a sinking ship.

Brendan Rodgers urges Liverpool's Raheem Sterling to sign long-term deal

http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2012/nov/29/brendan-rodgers-liverpool-raheem-sterling

"I think it is important for the club that we sign our young talents but I think it is even more important for Raheem," Rodgers said. "This is a club that is going to give young players an opportunity. He has played more games than he could have dreamed of this season, both in the Premier League and the Europa League. Liverpool Football Club has given him the chance to become a full international player. So, I would think if I am Raheem Sterling and his agents, I would look to tie it up very quickly."

this is Liverpool Football Club. If you are 17 years of age and you are playing regularly you would be very foolish not to commit yourself very quickly. I am confident it is something that will be sorted out very soon."

"this is Liverpool Football Club"

Would that be the football club that hasn't won anything worth winning for 6 years? The club that consistently fails to qualify for the Champions LEague and will continue to fail to do so for the conceivable future?

Not arsed if he stays or goes tbh, not seen anything that makes me think he's going to be a great.

"this is Liverpool Football Club"

I love the way Brenda bandies this around like as though he has been associated with the club for years. He's a non achieving know nothing manager who has conned some know nothing yanks and the gullible RS hoards into believing he's the messiah with a philosophy. The greatest con trick ever played upon a premier league club......
