ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC"

FWIW I'm not accusing anyone of being a Kopite but by the same token i don't come onto this thread to read post after post after post praising the RS & Klopp - don't we have to put up with enough OTT fawning over them in the Echo and the national press while we get slated / underestimated / undermined / get our best players hawked to all and sundry??

I've loved EFC for longer than I've detested the RS (I.e. since Heysel) and I would never claim to be a super / superior fan to anyone else, but I don't get why you'd spend more time finding fault with us and bigging them up when they've only won one more trophy than us in the past decade (DESPITE the media bias & bigging up of 'istoree')

What sets us apart from Kopites is our capacity for rational thought. @davek ia giving credit where credit is due if Klopp achieves top 4, there's a thread worth of failures also associated to him as well. Dave was kicking Rodgers all the way up to Gerard's slip so is certainly not one for dishing out blind praise.

If we lose sight completely of rational thought then this place has gone full on BAWK. That lot will be calling Conte and Mourinho frauds this summer and predicting a CL win for their German messiah. Us saying he'll have done an ok job if he gets in top 4 is the sort of thought that stops us going g to those sort of ridiculous levels.

Me personally I think he's got away with quite a lot and has managed expectations down quite gloriously. Other managers have been fired for just getting 4th. He's had a free swing this season whilst others have been in transition or decline. He won't have those advantages next season with his side taken on European burdens and Mourinho Guardiola and Conte all established. Then we'll truly see how good he is or whether scrapping for fourth and blaming fixture congestion is his limit.

Stoke and West Brom always get to 40 points and then start thinking about their summer holidays, and yet they scrambled past both of them. They are nothing special.

Being linked to some very good players over the summer; Keita, Van Dijk, Sessegnon, Brandt

not really a great list though is it. They're usually linked to reus, gotze, sanchez, ronaldo, messi etc.

i mean, it's always absolutely laughable because it's created by their delusion, but still a mile away from those names you've stated. Mane has been their only good signing in the last couple of seasons tbh. Wijnaldum is a good player but in the wrong position, he's an attacker because he makes a lot of mistakes, but shoehorned into centre mid.

Back pages in the morning saying they have done a deal with Joe Hart, they could do so much better then him, so I hope its true, 20m reported lol

i actually think at this point in time mignolet is better. Hart is just a calamity now who makes weird mistakes worse than robles.

Yeah, Mingo has made a few real good saves recently, maybe playing for his place perhaps, if City/Pep thought for a second Hart was good enough no way would they let him go to a rival.

i doubt city view the RS as a rival really, this season is a one-off, for both clubs probably. Mind you, i wouldn't totally trust pep's view on goalkeepers based on this season.
