ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC"

Can we stop all this giving credit to them. Seriously, this thread is almost a celebration of them. They have improved, while City and Arsenal have been woeful for periods. Theyve done decent. We've improved too. Nothing special..our away form is awful. It's not a comparison because their starting point is different. They've got a better squad and are more consistent, as they should be given the money they've spent. And their playmaker is actually influential and scores goals. Unlike ours

Oh and given Koeman has been linked as favourite to the Barca job, it would indicate that he is widely respected far more than relegation man Klopp.

Mate. seriously ? Did you just write that with a straight face ?

1. Koeman is not the favvourite for the Barca job with any bookie anywhere
2. Even if he was it would have little to do with his managing achievements. Anyone who knows anything about Barca knows that they prioritise managers who have a strong history with the club and previous achievement means little hence why they signed Rijkaard the season after he relegated Sparta Rotterdam from Eredivisie and hired Enrique after he finished mid table with Celta...

You're living in cloud cuckoo land if you think Koeman is 'far more widely respected' than Klopp.

Once you get outside the bubble of Kopite land You'll see Koeman is a far more respected figure than Klopp. Klopp will never achieve as much in football as Koeman has.

I stand by my remark, Koeman makes Klopp look like Gary Megson.

They are sitting third yet you think his performance is not among the top six. You must think they are underachieving with the squad they have then.

Overall I think he's done a decent job if they get CL. Having said that picking Lucas when it was obvious the damage he was doing to their performances raises question marks. The fast one touch attacking football that got them top wasn't the same after injuries to key players, but he compounded that by selecting Lucas...a slow, bang average midfielder who takes umpteen touches on the ball before making a five yard pass. Lucas slows everything down and is the very opposite of Klopp's style of play ("heavy metal football" apparently) yet he picked him over the last month. 2 pts fom their last 3 home games (Crystal Palace, Bournemouth, Southampton). It shows a flaw in judgement.

I don't think he is top 4 manager this season, I think he has done great getting average players into the top 4. The problem is his lack of intelligence in breaking down stubborn teams at home. Dropped too many points against bottom of the league teams.

Conte has won the league in his first season, pulis has improved WBA position, Koeman sorted Martinez mess out within one season, Mourinho has won the league cup and maybe Europa league with one of uniteds weakest teams in years. Pochettino has pushed spurs to the top 3 again, Clement kept Swansea up with a weak squad bottom of the table when he joined I think. Big Sam done well sorting palace out in the end.

The media love in with Klopp because he is a character (which most of the time is used to describe a massive tit head without actually offending them), is so stupid its not funny. The way his conducts his interviews, his snarling, his kicking off on officials, he really is a weird guy.
So if someone doesn't think he is that great I can see why, its not just league position its the bigger picture.

I've never one of their managers to rustle so many jimmies as Klopp has in hit short time there. People can't stop talking about him which adds to his mystique. Just don't look.

He suffers from Schizophrenia mate, his behavioural changes from one second to the next, coupled with blaming the weather, then the dry pitch, then accusing of Southampton as opening up for arsenal etc, he is one bad melt. You and your crew love all that though, look at me Media FC.

Hahahahaha

Jesus effin hell

He hasn't this season though. And he hasn't in any competiton he took charge of from the start. He benefitted from Rodgers doing the donkey work with the two finals.

Could you not put forward the argument that Koeman was left with a team that was fighting for 4th place until the last 3 or 4 games of that same season Bodgers finished 2nd? Adding to that team, Williams, Gana, Bolassie, Morgan. And a well respected manager that supposed to be able to organise a defence, all this with the Leagues top scorer.

It's quite simple mate. Work out 14 as a percentage of 47. The work out 11 as a percentage of 62 (what they have currently improved by). The truth will set you free. No Kopite can argue with the hard facts I present.

Not that simple mate. I don't like the RS, but to not give Klopp a little credit for what he's done is extremely short sighted. To improve on 47 pts compared to 60pts is statistically much easier to do, obviously. In fact, to improve the RS as much as he has with that squad, whilst operating in profit in the transfer window is far from "bang average".
To imply that that Koeman is more respected as a a Manager is stretching it a bit. Indeed, if you can call Klopp 'Relegation man', are you forgetting that Koeman took Valencia far closer to relegation than what Klopp ever has!!!!!!!!!!!!

Has he got some sort of problem with his jaw,or is that all part of his act?

You could use that argument yes. Koeman inherited a team on free fall last season and has stabilised us in his first 40 games. Klopp
Inherited a side in 9th and ended up 8th in his first season. In his second he has got up to 4th. Let's see what Koeman achieves.

It is simply not true to say it's easier to improve 14 points on 47 than 11 on 62. That is simple mathematics in which it says it's not as big a jump.

Koeman won a trophy with Valencia. By Klopp not coming as close to relegation as Koeman how would you describe his relegation with Mainz?

This is ultimately the problem with arguing with guys who admire Klopp (normally kopites but not always). There is an almost Orwellian abstraction of the facts. Whole key pieces of evidence that don't fit the narrative are just forgotten or omitted. And when someone tries to mention them they are accused of being in a bubble.

Unfortunately mate I am not going to omit evidence to distort Klopps mediocre reputation. I will continue to tell the truth. Klopp is nowhere near being in the top 6 managers of the Premier League. After next season I would doubt he'd be anywhere near the top 10.

We have improved more as a percentage? From last season to this, they will have improved by more points than our improvement. They will have improved by the same number of places. 8th to 4th v 11th to 7th. How are you working this 'percentage' out? Not to mention 2 Cup Finals in his 1st season v getting knocked out of both cups in the early rounds. Their improvement v our improvement = 16pts more v 14 or 15pts more. Percentage?

Like he did this year. It's likely no extended cup run helped you in the league. But with European football next year it will really hinder you.

Coutinho is pretty much off but he'll just pay FSGs shareholders tbh, dont forget you're millions and millions and millions of pounds in debt. CL (if you get past qualifiers) should keep the wolf from the door but a few more dodgy signings will see things get interesting.
