ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC"

I thought Ince disliked that lot, something to do with his Dad, and when he was there as a youngster. Didnt get any coverage in the North Somerset Times.

Sturridge. I'm not an expert on his game or anything (we all know he can defo finish), but I'm not sure his movement in dragging players away for others to benefit is part of it. I can see Suarez being the workhorse in that partnership.

I think Sturridge is Suarez's replacement myself. I don't see Suarez being there next season without Champions League football.

As far as i know Cole & downing are for sale and a few kids are available for loan , I think they'd probably be happy if someone came in for reina as well.

They think they'll get £13m ish for them two? downing is bout £5m max all career long. joe cole has proved he's a massive gamble which i'd pay £4m max for. If they sell reina they need a replacement as well. Anyone who has watched him over the last two years will know he's not worth touching. you think after their last 3 years of transfer history - two massive gambles worth £18m which may not even be made back, is probably one of the worst ideas

To be fair, Jags and Baines were on our books once upon a time - right

Yeah, when they were about 11 for about six months. Ince was on proper terms there and it was only 16 months ago.

You can talk about "what ifs" with Baines and Jagielka but it's not always possible to tell when they're still so young which ones are or aren't going to make it. If Ince really has come on leaps and bounds since he left Liverpool then that doesn't really say much about their academy set up does it?

I'd think cole would probably be a free to be honest given his huge wages although if they moved him on it'd be a wage reduction even adding the two new players. Downing is a strange one fee wise because as you say £5m seems about right but you could make an argument for a fair but more , although nowhere near the price they paid.

I think if your the board then signing ince with your % discount and the likely structure of a deal for Sturridge combined with their nationality and ages makes 'business sense' . That and Rodgers apparent lack of interest in the sturridge deal in the summer means I can see the hand of the owners more as much if not more than the manager in this deal .

I see sterling looks likely to sign his deal there is absolutely no way he's doing that unless liverpool have upped his offer. Despite their earlier stance about not breaking their structure over this deal (driven by the manager ) the player wouldn't sign unless the money had improved . I'd expect over £30k with annual increments and probably significant appearance money. The player has potential but the manager was adamant he wouldn't break HIS wage structure , well he has and hopefully it's another message he's delivered .

Resigning Ince so soon after deciding he wasn't 'good enough' is atrocious management.

No doubt the spin will be: 'it was worth it for his development which everyone at the club knew was essential'.

So why not loan him out?

'The psychological aspect of rejection inspred him to great heights. Anything less than what appeared to be a complete severance from LFC would have hampered his forward progress'. etc. etc. etc. ;)

Anyway, I heard we were in for him as well.
