ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC"

If they click they can beat anybody on their day. They have a new CB now and have plenty of funds for a new keeper in the summer. Our keeper is our only player who would get in their team. Their fans are being entertained every week whilst we are struggling to muster one shot on target

Mate we all know we’re crap. Don’t need to compare us to that lot to make that apparent. Palace and West Ham are playing better football than us at the moment for gods sake. The issue is that it’s not enough for them to be “on their day”. Last season and definitely this one come May, the team winning the league will have amassed more than 90 points. The bar has been raised an incredible amount and they’re still some way off that standard. Like I said in my original post unfortunately for us we’re some way off their standard, and the time to catch up in the summer of 2017 was totally missed and in summar quite simply a wasted opportunity.

Comparisons with them right now on the pitch are a waste of time- until we get ourselves sorted off it we won’t be catching up to anyone.

...then City and Chelsea and even United throw another quarter of a billion each at bringing world class players in...rinse and repeat each summer.

Consistent success will be difficult but if City struggle for some reason next season then they are as good as anyone else

It's results like this one that make their defeats away to the likes of Stoke and West Brom and Swansea all the more hilarious.

Cant wait.
Sometimes we’ve just got to pipe down because with posts like this it’s no wonder we get called ‘the bitters’ by them .

Catch up in the summer how? Top players choose the top clubs, and more importantly top managers choose the top clubs. They have Klopp, we have Allardyce. They are getting Keita, we are after Walcott. We are not viewed as an appealing destination for the type of players and manager than can make the club catch up.

Jean Seri, 26, midfield, Nice. Linked with Everton
Julien Laurens

"It looks like Everton are leading the race. But when you are so close to Barcelona I don't think it's the greatest feeling to be linked with Everton. But he wants to leave and they might let him go for the right price. I still think he is a very good player and he would be a great addition to this Everton team but he could do better."

Sam Allardyce is our manager, none of the top six would have ever considered him regardless of circumstance. Koeman was a big name player but never a big name manager, similar to Michael Laudrup. Then there's the players, Sigurdsson, Schneiderlin, Bolasie, fortunes forked out on second tier players deemed not good enough for the top clubs. That's not closing any gap to the top six. Leicester broke the mould the way they did it by unearthing hidden gems in Kante, Vardy and Mahrez. We are going after players who we already know aren't top notch rather than trying to do a Leicester.

Piped down because they win their inconsequential cup final against a real top club?

Ok.

Well in Liverpool, you win the East Lancs Cup 2017/18.
they are playing well and have been for a while . They’ve just stopped a very good city team in there tracks . So yeah sometimes it’s better to say nothing . If the boot was on the other foot and we saw kopites making similar comments on rawk about us after we had had a big win we would be mocking them for it .

They alway have a purple patch knocking over real top clubs - they do it each season. They also fall on their arses against poor opposition each season.

How does that not ring true or offend or embarrass?

The links with Simeone? Aubameyang? James last summer?

Also it wasn't too long ago that Hodgson was managing them into decline. Big Sam is a far better coach than Woy (or Rodgers) and he's just keeping the seat warm.

The point is they are in our bracket of upper mid-table teams with no current realistic prospect of winning the title. Except we have Mosh ready to spend dollar and they have a bunch of tight fisted hedge fund managers counting beans and doing moneyball
