Brilliant. It's like the opposite of a sectarian chant. Bringing religions together!

It also eloquently displays how enamoured Liverpool fans have been with their Summer arrival from Roma.

Just read that.

They just don’t see how offensive this song is to the millions upon millions of decent, honest, peace loving Muslims worldwide.
There's loads of media Kopites spinning it as a breakthrough for inter-communal relations.

It about as much a positive portrayal of Muslims as the Horst Wessel lied was a song championing Judaism.

One of his muslim followers tweeted a link to a video of Liverpool fans singing it and his response was

Im sure your intentions are good but taking offence on behalf of another race when they seemingly seem fine with it isn't a particularly good look.

Yeah, because obviously an individual gets to speak for the whole of the Islamic world.

What irony?

You say individuals can't speak for the entire islamic world and yet you're here saying that its offensive to muslims...

At the moment it seems to be a case of some non muslim Everton supporters saying its racist whilst the muslim player and his muslim followers all seem to have reacted positively to it.

Maybe im missing the outrage for other sections of the muslim community and you can point me towards it ?

I'm not pretending to speak for Muslims. I'm giving my understanding of how - beyond the media spun BS positive reaction to this - the reality behind the imagery it conveys is an underscoring of the usual neo-colonial stereotypes about "inferior people".

If the subject of the song doesn't see it then he's just a bit thick, that's all that proves.

He could hardly say he was offended with that lot could he.

I read he does loads for his home town in Egypt, fair play to the guy.
Why even mention his religion in a song though, I don’t get it.
