ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC"

Forget everything else, this will be the biggest obstacle they have to overcome in that semi. This isn't what they're used to at all. Roma should be doing everything they can to put Liverpool on a pedestal in the media in the build-up. We saw what happened as soon as they were favourites in 2014...

Roma need to be really solid and keep it tight for the first 30 minutes in particular, that's the danger period when they not only score, but can completely railroad teams and put a two-leg tie to bed almost. We see this time and time again, and not just under Klippity.

The longer it goes scoreless the more agitated the in-breds will get, thats when the likes of VVD can show how really good they are and let Roma in with an away goal from a set-piece.

If Roma can get an early away goal in this tie I can see Liverpool coming undone VERY quickly....and Dzeko is a type of player they hate to play against.

Even if Roma have it at 0-0 at half time in the first leg, they can count that as a big victory. If they've properly managed the narrative in the build-up, the doubt and confusion will start to set in at that point at Anfield, just as it did 4 years ago. Any away goal from that point on would be a killer.

All Roma need to do is score 1 goal. Even if they lose 2-1 at anfield there still favourites.
If Roma don't score at anfield, even if it's 0-0 Liverpool are heavy favourites.

They need that away goal Roma. If they get it and they dont have to worry about conceding one in Rome I'd fancy them to go though, even if Liverpool are 2-1 up.

I'd like to see plenty of balls into Liverpool's box because they dont get enough of that from opponents. The teams that do usually get a pay off. If Dzeko is in form they're in a lot of trouble.

Liverpool will smash them, don’t do it to yourselves. This Roma team lost away in Shakhtar and shipped 4 at Barca, they will let about 3 in at Anfield. Even if they got a very unlikely 0-0, I would fancy Liverpool to go over there and score when Roma will have to come out and play, and you just know Salah will score against his old team. They are in the final in my eyes, I just hope they get found out against Bayern or Real, two indisputably superior sides.

It could go that way, yes. Very easily it could. However, I wouldn't downplay two things: 1/ Salah is a known quantity to Roma and I think he'll be nullified and/or affected by the game against his old club; 2/ Liverpool are 'supposed' to win this ("easiest" of the three in the draw they could have gotten etc) and I dont believe this Liverpool team have the stature to bear that pressure well.

To me it's a toss up. But if it's down to a dodgy decision or two we know Liverpool will get them. It'll be close though over the two legs.

Think that’s a bit of wishful thinking mate, how many times do we see infininitly worse players score against their own club, never mind someone who is scoring against everyone from all angles. Liverpool have scored more goals in the CL this season, Roma will get blown away in my humble opinion.

Maybe, maybe not. I wouldn't argue too intensely that Roma will win this tie, but I just get the feeling Liverpool are a team that like to defy the odds - and in these games they'll be the ones expected to win. Roma will be difficult customers. Topped their group including Chelsea and Atletico and beat Barcelona. They aren't there by luck.

I cant see it being anything but close on aggregate.

Roma have actually had to play a lot of good European teams, a few recent winners/finalists the RS haven't come up against anyone yet.

Anyway, who cares, if they win they win, so be it.
