ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC"

I don’t want any Liverpool fan who travels to Rome to suffer any violent retribution from so called Ultras or local tooled up, beaked up, face hidden coward.

The press reaction to the average badge wearing, compulsory scarf wearing multiple seat occupying, selfie stick carrying, Fanta drinking, flag carrying, shirt wearing worldwide member would dominate multiple media outlets for months.

I was unfortunate to be in Lille at the Australian bar and Blue unfortunate to be caught up in that will have their own tale of cowardly pre planned violence. It ain’t England is all I’ll say and thinking uniformed police to help or intervene isn’t to be taken as granted. They knew that night.

So, I hope the Liverpool fans sing their songs, act sensibly and get home safely. Let the headlines be about the football, How Roma strolled to a comfortable win, building on their first leg lead.

Let’s see.
I agree mate. As much as I don’t like them it’s usually the innocent football supporter who suffers.
I can see this coach welcome being the same as City, if not worse, and the return leg in Rome will be chaotic. Hope I’m wrong.

Regardless of what happens tomorrow there will be trouble in Roma. United had it the last time they played there, as did the RS when they did in the 00s. It's part and parcel of Italian football still. I know a number of lads who are going, not the kind to cause any trouble, who are a bit worried over it.

Obviously if there is another Coachgate this will do nothing to quell the issue.

Salah PFA player of the year..

So the week starts here...

Can't really argue with that. 39 goals with a team far inferior to De Bruynes. Feel for KDB though, any other year he would've walked it.

De Bruyne can console himself with his two trophies whilst Salah shines his tin pot thinking how he will ever win a premier league.

If they know what's good for them mate they'll stay well away from doing anything like they did to the City coach because the Roma fans won't be quite as welcoming as City's were.

Any Kopite thinking of trying to intimate them tomorrow night need to have a good long think about that.

They’d be stupid to do so as they are already awaiting 2 charges from Uefa over fan behaviour to go with their incident ridden run to the Europa League Final. They had a period outside of Europe but almost immediately upon their return are establishing their old reputation.

They'll try and riot again tomorrow night if they can get anywhere near the positions they were last time. Two reasons:

1/ there'll be no action from UEFA until next season's CL (and whatever action is taken will give them maximum chance to play the victim again and they'll 'kin love that)
2/ the biffs rioting by and large wont be there for the second leg in Rome, so there'll be no blow back for them personally

Said it before and I'll say it again: UEFA are encouraging this by not taking firm action on Liverpool. They've allowed a number of incidents to pass by over the years without acting decisively - incidents perpetrated by the supporters of a club responsible for the biggest catastrophe in European competition history. They'll act only when a life is taken - and they'll be more than a bit responsible for it.

As long as Roma can stay in the game at Anfield then they’ll be very strong in Rome. All City had to do was keep the tie alive until the second leg but they idiotically allowed Liverpool to do what they did to them in the league and end it in about 20 mins. If the scores are level or there’s only one goal in it then Roma have a chance in the second leg. They just need to avoid a 15 minute collapse like Ciry had.

Nah.....Suarez has looked like just another player.

No shame in that, being just another player at Barcelona but he looks nothing special. They’d probably be getting shut of him this summer if they didn’t have such a big rebuilding job to do.

It just highlights the level Messi and Ronaldo are at that they look miles above them all.
he’s scored 150 goals in 4 years playing second fiddle to Messi and won loads of trophies . He’s been great for them IMO .

Correct.

Liverpool didn't look a confident team last 20 versus WBA and the manager was very edgy.

If Liverpool dont do their thing in the first 30 minutes I'd become quietly confident they'll blow this tie.

No doubt City’s league game with Liverpool and the “only team to have beaten them in the league” thing will have played a part psychologically in the collapse too. That’s a problem Roma won’t have. They won’t fear Pool as much. I expect a good game from the Italians, and an away goal.

Suarez has a record not far off a goal a game in la liga.

Sterling has probably been City's second best player this season.
