Echo Sports "Journalists"

It’s not journalism in my opinion. If it was they clearly would have highlighted and acknowledged the goings on at Everton over the years. They did not. So much so a group of fans even ended up having a meeting with them over their lack of reporting on the running on the club. they got mocked for reporting on Leon Osman going go-karting.

You can listen to audio from the meeting here:

The worst thing they've done is blatantly spin the Rafael appointment and tenure in a way that would make Goebbels proud.

It was sickening listening to them criticize the support every week when they knew full well that it was a terrible idea. Once he got sacked it was all "Oh it was a bad idea from the start, never should have happened etc." but they spent months defending him, Kenwright and Moshiri. Absolute charlatans.

Absolutely there should be a ban from Everton but they probably don't mind it's brand of soft "journalism."

What I don't understand is why there isn't a major boycott of it by Blues fans. Anyone buying it is basically funding a kopite propaganda comic in my opinion and should be ashamed of themselves.
Me neither. My dad is on thier website all the time. In fact he's even a member who posts on there.

Whenever I ask why, he just shrugs. I honestly don't get it. He'd get better information from here and the likes of ToffeeWeb than he ever will from the echo.

In fact I'm constantly one step ahead of him on all things Everton

The young lads are far more in touch with the support, or at least my views. The likes of Kirkbride, Beesley, Buckland and, worst of all of them, Prentice, are all absolute sycophants living in the past and focused more on not upsetting the club than doing anything that could remotely be classed as "Journalism".
prentice was the worst , remember all that “ be careful what you wish for “ nonsence about kenwright came from him , scared to lose his freebies off the club ,can’t stand him

Dont mind the echo to be honest, i dont believe much i read in the media to be honest and form my own opinions, if you know what your dealing with take in the info, weigh it up yourself and take and leave it as you will.

Love planting the odd story, talking point, analysis etc on here and it ending up on there a few days later (coincidently).

Alright lads.

Kirkbride and Prentice have both moved on, but I didn’t mind them.

They played the game, they knew what they could say and what they couldn’t - and they had opinions I could give and take.

I actually quite like Gavin Buckland, too. He’s had some hilarious opinions (saying our new ground shouldn’t be bigger than Goodison for one) but I often find he has takes on things I’ve not considered.

I like hearing a variety of opinion, even if I disagree with huge chunks of it.

I should also say, the only Echo content I’ve routinely consumed over the past 5 years or so has been the Royal Blue Podcast. The most amateurishly-produced piece of media I’ve ever come across from an established media organisation - but I just like to listen to people chat Everton.

The news articles are just recycled from other places, never seems to be new so don’t bother reading.

Give their podcast a listen from time to time, it’s quite good, much better than the paper. They generally try to look for positives in objectively terrible club decisions, bit like some on here.

To be honest mate I think there sort of is, at least unspoken.

Been boycotting it for years.

I get what some are saying about it not being the journalists, but those in charge. But if they don't care about Everton, why should I care about the echo?

Long overdue a ban from Goodison Park and Finch Farm. Wouldn't make a blind bit of difference to the way Everton is covered by it anyway
Everton would never ban them there made up with there never rock the boat coverage

It's not surprising that he got the job as Minister of Propaganda from Bill
This might be harsh but if we do get taken over soon I hope any new owners quickly jettison Prentice from a job he, imo, only got because of his refusal to ever criticise BK and the hierarchy at Everton over the years. There's no way he'd ever have got a gig at Goodison had he been as critical as he was over the previous Liverpool owners.

I don’t read it anymore but their stuff still pops up on my Twitter timeline and I occasionally listen to one of them on a podcast they guest appear on.

Have to say that they seem like genuine lads but they work for a paper that doesn’t care about us and is only bothered about baiting readers into reading nonsense that isn’t spell checked

I used to buy it on a daily basis until around 10 years ago. Never forgave them for 1) encouraging Blues to vote in favour of Kirkby (which I didn't) and 2) you had Prentice writing article after article slamming Hicks and Gillett when they were running Liverpool into the ground, yet this supposed Blue refused to do the same when the guy who we're still lumbered with as 'Chairman' was doing the same to the club he claims to support.

Dominic King (a red btw) was so far up Kenwright's arse it was untrue when he was Everton correspondent for the paper.
Remember Bascombe?I stopped after the end of season derby at the pit, think it was the one when distin had one disallowed near the end, fair enough bascombe was the LFC correspondent at the time,I can’t remember to relate the total drivel he came out with about everton(someone may recall it on here)but the level of bias and total disrespect was something maybe expected of the anfield wrap or spirit of shankley but not by a supposedly impartial local newspaper.
