The paper sells less than 10% of what it was selling daily in 1976. Patience my friend

70's ~ 285,000 copies daily
Now ~ 22,000
Surprised it is that many. I find it surprising that people still buy newspapers of any description in this day and age

Today's deadline "double departure leaves Frank with a huge void to fill" . Oh no! Who else has left now ? I fell for it and logged in. Answer Ferguson and Richarlison. What a waste of space the Echo is.

The website is horrendous. It’s hard to see the actual words in amongst the top banner to download the app the cookies popping up then when you accept all like ah sod it you start reading and the page is pumping in “tailored” ads making the layout jump all over the place.

There must be a point where someone who’s job it is to look after the website says, this is a pile of crap and a horrible experience.

I think the reason is the majority of kopites are still quite attached to their bi-monthly paper Echo specials and reluctant to move on to modern digital versions. So they can plaster them all over their mar's box room walls.

Remember Bascombe?I stopped after the end of season derby at the pit, think it was the one when distin had one disallowed near the end, fair enough bascombe was the LFC correspondent at the time,I can’t remember to relate the total drivel he came out with about everton(someone may recall it on here)but the level of bias and total disrespect was something maybe expected of the anfield wrap or spirit of shankley but not by a supposedly impartial local newspaper.

Smarmy arse James Pearce made a comment about the club releasing a DVD of the match.

I’m sure they will all think that in Editorial at The Echo. But they are forced into using that hideous platform by the Reach group (formerly Trinity Mirror) that owns them.

It’s all about rinsing as much advertising revenue out of the site as possible, the needs and desires of readers are rock-bottom.

The best model for a consumer is low-fee subscription - or if you’re lucky enough to have a readership like The Guardian, a voluntary subscription that enough people take up to keep more invasive advertising away from everyone.*

But both of those are really hard for small regional newspaper sites.

I really feel for them, it’s a tough gig.

* Hey, I just realised that also applies to GoT.
