Transfer Rumour El Bilal Touré

Im just going to say it - im cautious about signing this lid, because hes 21 and developing. I know the theory sign young players, develop them, they improve we get our money back etc - its what we should be doing.

I am however cautious, its absolutely the type of player we have failed to progress time and time again - Lookman, Vlasic, Gordon, Kean - we failed to build on any of them despite their talent and potential and sold them on without any menagingful impact in the first team. Its a profile i think we are shcokingly bad at in developing. Kean himself a case in point, we didnt have a striker last season and we had one we paid 28 mill for - out on loan at another club - because we faild to develop him. Im cautious this lad fits a similar profile.

In all fairness Kev may be doing a better job than Brands, in that in the 12 months here hes developed say Patterson, Onana and Garner in that profile and that's my hope, as opposed to what Brands did.

But still im a little cautious given our predisposition to boom and bust with this profile of player and how important a position it is for us in the season ahead - we cant afford to get it wrong.

Nothing against the lad himself, he could be boss for all i know, ive only seen Youtube cliips.
It is also the kind of player that has helped keep us afloat financially when we sell on for profit.
We did a similar deal for Onana who we hope will develop into a very good player.
We made substantial profits on Richarlison and Lukaku which helped off set the very poor spending on other players.

It is a risk but one we probably have to take.

Classic Kenwright / Myers stitch up this,
It's like Monty Python at Christmas promising all the chocolate gold coins you can eat...
... All we can hope for is Thia green curry flavoured Nachos...
....Everton transfer activity is like waiting for cuckoos to hatch 🐣🐥🐣

By all accounts, this guy looks to be the main striker target, it’ll be a massive blow if we miss out on him but things seem to be getting complicated with the fee and competition. Going to be a bumpy week seeing how it progresses…I can smell the meltdowns

The big worry is who is plan B?

If it is Che Adams, we have to go all in to get toure.

Tbf the players themselves have to have both the ability and desire to want to go to the next level, whatever anyone thinks about our coaches and youth development, they aren’t magicians.
Hard to say Gordon hasn’t developed when someone bought him for £45m (whether he’s worth that is another argument) and he was player of the tournament at the U21 WC.
Vlasic ultimately failed at West Ham too so maybe he’s just not up to Prem Standard?
Lookman same as Vlasic, basically didn’t cut the mustard at Fulham or Leicester.
Kean was / is just a head the ball who his ‘home’ club struggle to get a tune out of.
Whats more important to me is we don’t lose money on these speculative young player purchases, which we haven’t been.

I think our best hope with this is if United continue to stall on the Hojlund deal, which in turn would probably stall Atalanta's pursuit of Toure. We need to be trying to wrap this up in the next couple of days.

Yeah, Atalanta are in a tight spot because presumably they need to be sure Hojlund is going before they can submit anything official for Toure, but they can’t force anything with United unless they considerably lower their demands.

Need to take advantage, possibly even by giving Almeria and the player a hard deadline for a decision. If Atalanta can’t make a formal offer it increases our chances, plus we can’t wait weeks for a decision when we might need to move on other targets.

Start tracking flights fellas

…private jet just going into nearby Malaga from Manchester. It could be;

The reports from both Myers and Romano are that Everton are "pushing hard " for the deal, that would indicate that they feel they are still in the mix to sign him.

We have been told Atlanta are also interested but not told where they are in negotiations.

From an Everton perspective it would be great to be able to sign a 21 year old centre forward who is highly rated (I know nothing whatsoever about the player) but if he doesn't sign there are other players and it seems we do have funds available.

Moise kean was highly rated

If there’s no more “progress” in the Romano links today - it is clear this has just been a “we tried”/“hurry up music for other transfers from bigger fish” strategy. If you know Atalanta are circling you get the deal done immediately, not leak “heavy interest” to the usual tomato/brown sauces. Would point out that Romano has been used for this kind of thing in the past with Diaz/Kudus/Gallagher etc.
