Read my reply mate. You saying we should hold on until he's 27 to properly judge him or? lol
He is 22 but he's not a prem footballer right now. Maybe he'll grow and be one in the future, but currently - nah. Not even as a "he's gash lad sell him", not his fault he got recalled because our recruitment was utter poop.
He's 24.....Don't forget Tom Davies is still only 17.
It’s pretty easy to acknowledge that he had a tough task and wasn’t helped by the lack of support while also recognising that he didn’t offer enough himself and both his (lack of) physicality and his first touch were a huge issue for us. Im not convinced he’ll make it at this level and last night did nothing to change my mind, but he’s likely to get more chances to prove me wrong between now and may, and I hope for both our sakes that he does.
Hung out to dry sadly. I thought when I saw the team, him and Doucoure would put up a fight but WOW.
Agree; sell...Yes he was thrown to the wolves to some extent. But come on, the RS had a kid 4 years younger with a 1/4 of his physical attributes but with more heart and passion in his big toe than Simms has in his entire being.
You only to have to look at his body language to see he has very little about him.
Yeah it’s not the easiest couple of games to come in to. He’s not a complete novice though, he’s old enough and with enough experience to not be completely overawed by it, and yet he just looked out of place really. If you’ve not got a lot to your game you have to really nail the basics and it was disappointing that he didn’t even come close to doing that last night. As you say, maybe in games where we’re a bit more on the front foot he can show what he is good at, rather than what he’s not.I agree, sadly, his opportunities for us so far have been starting away to Liverpool and Chelsea and a couple of very small cameos.
Not sure how he’s meant to bed in when he’s given near nothing for both games.
Hopefully with us playing a bit more attacking in the coming games may give him a chance. Felt for him.
He won a few flick ons last night with no support - laid the ball back perfectly for McNeil when we hit the post & he made a cock up, why did he not just shoot fgs? That caused the breakaway where they scored - A crucial opening goal we should have had ..... yes he looked rusty, but chucked in did OK IMO - Maupay did very little too with our midfield which was dire all night -Sunderland fan I know says this lad have never jumped to head a ball while playing for them. Strange for a big fella not to go for a header.
