He’s not a Premier League striker, at least at the moment anyway. Unfortunately, he may well be the best option we’ve got now, with no reliance of Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

But feel there has been an overreaction, because he isn’t very good, but fans should know this by now, otherwise he’d have been here instead of on loan.
but the madness of the everton board and owner is they have to recall this lad to help save the club from relegation (which in my humble opinion is another act of complete madness on our journey to doom)

You will be selling him for somewhere under £1m to the championship this summer I imagine.

He did ok for us as a second striker but strangely enough many Sunderland fans have similar views.

- He doesnt impose himself enough for a big lad, although he does have a bit of a go and gets mixed results in terms of winning it at championship level.
- He has this lazy running style about him that doesnt help convince some supporters. But he does chase about when asked to.
- However, he does know where the goal is when given the chances He's scored headers, scored from outside the box etc.
- I think hes much more effective in a two up top high press. He got alot of joy early in our early games when we employed that tactic.

We all knew he wasn't ready for the Premier League as hes not imposing/influencing enough and I'd say that hes not even ready to be a first choice striker in top 8 of the championship as he wouldnt get enough goals for promotion.

Your best bet is him alongside someone else I'd suggest.

Oh, the board are a nightmare and have caused this situation.

We can’t rest on our laurels with that. Having a lad with 1 Prem start in his career become our “saviour” was never going to work well, was it?

I would play Maupay over him and change the system. We need two different ways of playing, one with and one without Calvert Lewin.

It may sound harsh but I'm not seeing enough to suggest he is good enough for this league.

As always though, it goes without saying that the blame lies with the club, not the player.

He's 22 but yeah
22 isn't he?

Oh sorry. I feel like this lad has been been 19 and our next great hope forever. But the point still stands, Everton is not exactly an environment that is optimal for a young striker with very little PL experience to hit the ground running straight away, even less so in an away derby

there is nothing harsh in saying that. it's not personal.

it's just reality.

That's very true, but I think most of what people are saying is fair. He doesn't really look like a PL level striker to be honest, and that is pretty much why we're talking about 'throwing him in' when actually he's 22 and has got 70 odd senior games under his belt. He probably isn't going to make it at the top level in my opinion, but he's going to get chances for the rest of this season because we've got nothing else and after that we might not be at the top level anyway so he could still have a good career here. He needs to do a lot better than he did last night though, it's tough on him and it sounds harsh, but this is elite level sport.

Edit: He's 22 years old and was thrown in to an away derby ffs. Give the lad a chance

It´s not like we´re sitting happy in midtable though. We can´t be giving players like Simms 3 or 4 games to see if he can adjust. The nature of our situation is that he has to hit the ground running or we´re buggered.

Was he acting under orders, if so - those orders were, if not wrong, they were too restrictive.
Why, because he didn't put himself about much...not that he got that much service.
It's important what you do when you don't have the ball.

Where was the 'Nuisance', the mobility, where were the 'Peel off' feints, the moving across the middle of the back 4, leaving your marker, trying to get him out of position...
Yes I know we were gash and the was nobody to take advantage.

If you're static, effectively standing still and thus practically marking yourself. Standing still is OK if you're The Yak in his pomp.

Where is any modicum of striker Instinct...youcould call it The Jack Russell thing; wow a ball...my ball!

Unless he (and his orders, if that's what they are) Change and he ups the effort and mobility, he will just turn into Anichebe-lite
Built like Tarzan - plays like Jane (soz Jane no offence meant)

Edit; Yesterday was a free hit, he gets a Mulligan for me - a do-over -try harder.

Not his fault he's miles off it he may never be of standard he's hasn't much PL experience he needs chances to see but it's an absolute scandal we are relying on him
